  1. The bandwidth stealing was the pain in the butt. We had to hire someone to do the password protecting. I do not have the skill with computers to deal with the set-up, nor do I have the time with school and everything else. I am not asking for a pat on the head, I was venting. I believe others are allowed to vent every once and awhile, so why is that I cannot without being told I am a doormat (Oz) or a whiner? Besides, you have no idea what my life is like. I keep most of it off the internet. This past year, by the way, has been the hardest I have ever had to deal with. I watched my father die almost a year ago, I was there, with him. I was there the night we had to call an ambulence for him, watched him get loaded up knowhing he was never coming home again. That is not all, but no more is going online. So if I need to get something out of my system, like many people here, I will. Of course, I am sure someone will tell me that I am just acting out because I didn't hear what I wanted to. The whole internet frustration was the boiling point with everything else. Responses like yours and Ozland's are reminding me why I stopped coming here and why I normally just stuck to the H/J board in the first place. And once again, just to make myself clear, I do not have the ability to set up the network. I do not have the computer skills to do so. I do not have the time to gain these computer skills at the moment.
  2. I have seen horses that have been used for therepy purposes, and they are perfectly happy doing what they do. Furthermore, horses have an amazing ability to help heal people, whether it is physically or emotionally. Personally I think this person is talking out of the south end of a horse going north, to borrow one of my grandfather's favorite expressions.
  3. It's working right now but it is on it's way out, so we are going to be starting all over again with a new one. The whole issue is dealing with the set-up and passwording of the new one, and it is officially going back in Bro's room. Nothing I am saying is working so I will just start stealing the modem and plugging into that when I need internet. Then he doesn't get access for once.
  4. It's been a long and exhausting day. I wrote an accounting midterm today, and there is so much that is going on in my life that I don't want to share on the internet. I might just not be expressing myself properly, and I could just be too tired. Anyway, I apologize if what I have said isn't clear, or is causing confusion.
  5. Hooking it up isn't the problem, it's messing around trying to get it secure. The whole password thing just messes with my brain. We had people stealing our bandwidth at our last house, and it was a pain in the butt.
  6. Not right now she can't. She's dealing with some health issues.
  7. Never mind. She has changed her mind because Bro has informed her that it won't work in my room. He is also refusing to set it up in my room. He's the only one who can do it. If I didn't have to live here because I am in school, I would be gone so fast. I always figuered that I would be living my own life at 28, instead of living with my mother, grandmother, and middle brother. To top it all off, because I am my mother's errond person, it looks like I'm not going to be able to get out to feed my horse tonight. Again. I just want to spend some time with my mare. She's my little bit of sanity in this mess. Yeah, I know, a Thoroughbred is my sanity. Totally fits!
  8. I just got home and the wireless is working...for now. It will conk out again soon, it rarely works for more than 10 minutes at a time. The way the house is set up is that there are two phone lines. One is Grandma's, one is ours. Our phone line is the internet line, and the only two jacks for our phone line are in my room and my brother's room. Bell won't give my mother one because it would be too much work (yeah, whatever). Anyway, the modem and router are going to be moving into my bedroom this time. They will be on a really good surge protector, instead of just being plugged into the wall, and they will be accessable when necessary. The reason there were initially only these two jacks installed for our line is that my uncle used to live here and he and his wife had my bro's bedroom as their bedroom and my bedroom as their living room. The whole living situation is pretty complicated too. My life is pretty complicated, but that is for another post! Anyway, better hit submit before the connection goes away again.
  9. Pretty girl!
  10. This is since February. I don't know what my brother is doing to them, but he doesn't seem upset because he plugs into the modem. The modem and router are in his room (for now!), but Mom and I can't stay connected. It is acting the same way as the last one was. My theory is that it is because he doesn't have it plugged into a surge protector and we have been loosing power a lot lately. I'm just getting really frustrated because I can't get my homework done for school (most of it is done online) and I have a project due next week worth 15% that I can't research for because I can't stay connected to the network. Mom is equally frustrated because she is a real estate agent and she can't get online to do the work she needs to unless she is in the office. Right now I'm at school, where it is really noisy so I can't concentrate on what I need to. And I don't have access to a printer so I can't do my research because I have to print out everything to attach to my project. I just want to be able to do my stuff at home, in my quiet bedroom, with no distractions! Of course my brother is all "it works fine for me so I see no reason to fix it." Sorry, I just needed to vent. I'm going to go review my notes for my accounting midterm that starts in an hour. And all I can say about that is thank goodness it is just one accounting course and that I didn't choose to make accounting my program. Insurance is heavy enough, thank you very much!
  11. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo and make sure that your shampoo doesn't have any sodium laureth sulfate, sodium sulfate, laureth sulfate, or any other sodium, laureth, or sulfate products in it. Those chemicals are what makes soap and shampoo foam, and are very drying. I went through a crazy scalp problem about four or five years ago and I'm still having some issues with dry scalp. Kiss My Face has a good, fairly inexpensive shampoo without the above ingredients. That's where I started and now I am using Arbonne's shampoo and conditioner. It costs about $40 Cdn for both, but it is so worth it and the bottles last at least 5 months (mom and I share the shampoo, and my hair is fairly long so I use a lot of conditioner). I did a lot of research on this stuff. I can try to answer any questions you might have. Good luck!
  12. I agree. I have a '97 Toyota Camry that is a hand-me-down from my mom. It has over 418,000 kms on it (roughly 260,000 miles) and it is still fantastic! Love my car!
  13. I have a Blackberry as well, and while I love it, I have a lot of issues with it freezing. It gets annoying having to pull the battery out to reboot the stupid thing a couple times a week. Also, I have had it since March 2011 and the battery will sometimes be alright and sometimes I'll send a text and it will use up half the battery. It frustrates me, because I think it is great as long as it is working well. And it is out of warrenty, of course. I'm not sure what I am going to replace it with when I am able to upgrade. I hate touch screens also, so that kinda takes iPhones out of the running.
  14. Because of this thread I ended up speanding three hours on Pintrest this evening! I could have been reading my text books, but no, and it's all your fault!
  15. I spend waaaaay too much time on Pintrest! Dangerous site!
