  1. Thank you sooo much! I will try to get some pics of her on here. She's pretty hairy now so I have to find some ones from this summer. We do pretty much everything except pleasure- barrels, team penning, trails, etc. Thanks again!
  2. Hi. I was wondering if anybody could tell me anything about the horses on my mare's papers. I don't have a membership to APHA and if anybody could tell me anything that would be great! Thanks! http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/joplins+jets
  3. Thanks Bumper- That was exactly what I was looking for. I want to be educated about this before I go ahead with it.
  4. Hi all- I was wondering what you guys think of this stud to get a possible barrel prospect? I am thinking of breeding my QH mare in a few years who is proven on barrels and poles. I am just researching a bit to get a feel for the various studs out there. thanks! http://sixafire.com/Stallion/tabid/67/Default.aspx

  6. That's the problem I have. At home she is great goes directly from a lope to a stop. I always drop a gait around the barrels when practicing at home. She does awesome with this. She only does this at the shows when running full out. Can you get these bits without a noseband? Thanks
  7. Hi all. My mare is really startin to run strong and I think I may try one of these MJ bits. My question is which one should I start with. The long or short shank one. I don't want something too harsh but I hate having to pull so hard to get a response. At home when we practice she has great rate. She will go right from a lope to a stop at the barrels. She really gets truckin at the shows though and I lose a lot of rate. This is the bit she is in now; http://www.tackstop.com/bitr330.htm The MJ bits: http://www.tackstop.com/bitmilliondollar.htm http://www.tackstop.com/mjbitlongshank.htm Thanks in advance!
  8. My friend works a lot with her horse picking up his shoulder and such. I know that it won't be a quick fix. I was just wondering if there was something that may help her with him. Thanks!
  9. I was wondering what kinds of bits you guys have used for a horse that has a tendency to drop their shoulder? ( Not my horse this time- a friends horse )I have done a search on the forum and have not found much. Sorry if you guys have answered this a dozen times! Thanks
  10. RNR- I have never ridden her in a bit with a port before. I am not sure how she would act with one. Bumper- With the go round bit should I get one with or without a rope nose? Thanks guys! [smiley Wavey]
  11. Thanks for the tips- I will definelty try that out! What do you think about possibly trying out this bit? http://www.profchoice.com/htmldocs/prd/hor...prd/cjb206.html
  12. Hi all- I have a 6 yr old mare with way too much bend when running the pattern. She's great with slow work, rollbacks, circles, good rate, etc. She only seems to do this in an all out run on the second and third barrel. I was considering switching to a different bit. Right now she is in a Martha Josey mullen mouth piece hackamore. I have tried a little S hack but I got the same results. Just wondering if you guys have any ideas on different bits I could try or any other advice. Thanks
  13. I don't think this is really an issue of your daughters riding. She is obviously a very good rider with a few things to work on. But don't we all. I think the main issue is the horse not rating and slowing down. When she pulls on the reins he should slow down. She shouldn't have to work so hard to get him to rate. Everybody has great suggestions on how to fix that. I must say though that I really like the ole man. Plenty of pep there! Good luck! [smiley Wavey]
  14. On her barrel run he IS running away after the third barrel. She is clearly trying to slow him down and he just floored it. I can understand him not coming to a dead stop but he should at least SLOW down. She checked him and he flattened out. Complete disregard.
  15. Hi all. I have to agree with the people saying she has no control. In her barrel run, the horse shouldn't be running away with her. He looks very chargey to me and has no regard for your daughter. She is a very good rider and I do not think that it is her fault. Rate just needs to be reinforced at home. Rate is a must for a barrel horse. She can sure stick with him. I can see what you mean when you say that they are unbeatable when they are "together". He's a very nice horse. With my barrel horse I can run the first barrel full speed and if I ask she will come to a dead stop at the second. I understand not every horse will do this, my other mare does not stop as quickly but she still does. They have to be listening to the rider at all times. Please do not take offense I am just offering a suggestion. Good Luck!
