Council Farms In Georgia?

18 posts in this topic

I've heard of them but have never been there. I saw an ad in one of the local horse sales magazines.

Found their website. They aren't far from where I am. They are in Cordele, which is a bit south.

CAITLYNS Sparkle

You can google their name Council Farms, Cordele, Ga and it will come up.

I looked at their horses, seem to be well taken care of, but other than that I know nothing about the people. You might could try BBB and see if you find something there.

Hope things work out for you.

Have a GREAT week.

Website is www.CompleteEquine.com

I went to look at a gelding this weekend that used to be owned by a lady who works there. The guy who has the horse said that he got one from Council Farms and after a few months the horse didn't act right. They took the horse back and fitted him with another one. He said they do have a guarantee.

Has anyone bought a horse from Council Farms over the Internet? Did they represent the horse accurately and honestly?

Two of these posts in a row? Are these for real or really advertising in disguise?

CS has been a long time looking for a beginner-safe horse for herself and her daughter. She's had at least one bad mistake, and doesn't want to repeat the experience.

C S there is a pretty little APHA for sale here in town. Diffinetly beginner safe and the sweetest thing. I saw the listing on horsetopia and dI know the horse. May be worth a try. As for Council Farms, they seem to be pretty good and you may also want to look into Salley's horses. Good luck

Dang, I just moved from Eatonton about a year ago.

As for buying a horse over the internet, we are warry of doing such a thing without riding the horse or looking where they come from. Last horse tha my girlfriend gave birth to my Arabian/Tenessee Walker mix, which a surprise to everyone, including the horse trader. I would suggest that you make a trip down here and line up a couple of horses you wan to look at. All horses have personalities and will jell with some and not so well with others. Also, if you are willing to ship the horse to Wisconcin from Georgia, I would think you absolutely want to make sure you are buying the right horse. If you have a friend in this area, maybe have them scout out the horse first. Just my random thoughts on this.

CS, I'm surprised you haven't been able to find a nice, safe horse here in the Midwest? What breeds/discipline/age/height are you looking for?

I found this on another board, but I hope you read it.

"just bought a 6 year old tw mare, was told she was a wonderful mare, no spook could ride double, etc and more etc. my dream horse. purchased her over the internet and had her shipped to us. Got her here and shes NOTHING at all like the seller told me. I checker her (sellers) references etc. and took a chance. well now I'm stuck with a horse I can hardly ride the seller is going on and on how we didn't bond with her enough at first and ride her as much as we should have. and she was perfect for them, anyway now I have a horse I don't know what to do with, she spooks, rears and is very difficult to control. have taken her off the grain, (she came to us very very thin, ribs and hip bones sticking out) anyway if you can offer me advice I would love to hear it. the seller said the person she got it from said when she reared to hit her over the head with a plactic baseball bat. Im 53 and not near as "limber" as I was at 20 this is NOT a option for me. help"

Basically, this gentleman got stuck with a horse with a bad problem. In the end, he would have to go from Iowa to Kentucky, file a complaint in the repective county, ect, ect, ect.

I have found a nice painted mare who is 12 with a family for $1500. Their grandchildren use to ride, but as time has gone on, they have lost interest. They want to find her a good home and might be willing to knock down the price some. I have played with the horse a little, and she seem to be quiet and calm. Didnt ride her or anything.

It is horses like these that are out there you need to look for who have had good owners and care as much about the animal as you would for your own. I always beleive in riding the horse and see if there is a good bond. Star was free (well as free as any horse is, lol), and I rode her to make sure we connected.

If you are interested in this mare, please feel free to contact me and I can send you the contact info.

I was wondering about Council Farms prices. I'm planning on getting a horse in the next year or so. I have heard that they are "expensive" and was wondering if anyone knows what their range is, just so I have an idea. They don't give prices unless you go look at them and I don't want to waste their time before I am ready. You can inbox me about if you want.

Thanks!

Caitlyn,.... if you want safe, sound, reasonably-priced and very well trained, I cannot recommend Mary Babb-Murphy from Gays Mills, WI enough. I bought my mare, Penny, from Mary virtually sight-unseen (pictures & video). She was absolutely 100% properly represented and more.

http://www.draftwarmbloods.com/Search/index.php?ImageName=horses&IncludeFile=horses.php&CategoryID=41e845f38cb35&distance_search=1&distance_search_zip=54631&age=&search_color=&search_location=&search_sex=&search_ad_age=&search_price=

All her horses get a solid driving foundation before being trained to ride. Once ridden, they get a sound Dressage foundation. A real class-act lady.
