S-S Vintage? Western Saddle With Pioneer "scene" Tooling

4 posts in this topic

This is a saddle i acquired from a dear friend. It has a tag and is labeled S-S 5218 . This saddle is hand tooled not stamped as the designs on each side vary some, the houses are similar but they are not the same and it goes for other parts as well. I cannot find any other makers marks or numbers. If you can tell me anything about this saddle or know where or who may have made it, that would be great. Thank you

Pictures can be seen at the following link.

just gonna slap some of those pics on here for ya, because it's easier for our saddle experts that way :) I'm NOT one of those experts, but I love following this board

That Saddle was probably made in the late 60's early 70's judging by the features and overall design.

Possibly sold by Schneider Saddlery ( SSTack.com ), they have bee around since 1948

There used to be a Southern Saddlery. I wonder if someone bought a plain saddle and did all the tooling later on. That's sort of what it looks like to me. Interesting, I must say.
