IRELAND HOLIDAYS

5 posts in this topic

About 10 years ago, a friend and I did an equestrian vacation based at Kinnitty Castle in Offaly County, Ireland. We started in Dublin and took the train to Tullamore for our stay at the castle. We did half-day rides in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, took a falconry class, toured Birr Castle and its gardens, and took the bus to Kildare to see the Irish National Stud. I would love to go back to see more of the country, but we packed a lot into our short trip, including plenty of challenging rides.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

I've always wanted to go to Ireland and do some riding.  My husband is not a rider, but he has done some trail riding with me.  It's difficult to find something for both of us.  Any recommendations?

What are your husband's hobbies? I've seen combination riding and golfing vacations in Ireland; hiking, riding and canoeing trips in the States; and even a week in Italy where you could ride horses and take Italian cooking classes. Some resorts combine riding with other activities for non-horsey family members.

The Quay House in Galway is in an area known for riding, fishing and golf.
