  2. Texas People #6

Grimmie, your granddaughter is growing fast. She is so adorable!
  3. Texas People #6

Heidi, I know exactly what you’re talking about. Had it happen with my female spays too. Heidi, the dermavet is amazing, it has reduced the pf, it’s flat and smooth now, I’m down to just spraying with alushield. Out trip has been postponed until July. The dealer wasn’t able to install another AC so we ordered the same model with dual AC and a few upgrades. We’ll be camping mostly in Texas and will need all the AC we can get especially in summer. Had a wonderful Easter. Hid eggs for Lyra. Every time she picked up an egg she had to walk over and show it off to the her Daddy uncle and brother.

Oh there are all sorts of excursion trains out there. Each has something different to offer. So far my favorite is the Prairie Dog Central in Winnipeg Manitoba. Of all the trains we have ridden they have impressed me the most with how clean & kept up their equipment is & they have really good volunteers. Can't tell you how many trips we have taken & the volunteers ruin the event.
  5. The Front Porch

If you have specific questions, Im sure I can get the info for you. The excursion trains usually sell out. It always baffles me as its just an old industrial route and the river, but people come from all over to ride it. I guess its one of those things I take for granted because its in my backyard so to speak. The open air car was originally used to haul logs I believe, its my favorite. About a month ago the freight train hit 2 people on the tracks on the same day within an hour of each other. What are the odds?! First one was a suicide, the other was a drug overdose/suicide. Crazy. My favorite part about the train is that if my memory serves me correctly, Buckingham Branch is female owned. Pretty cool. Ill get a few more pics in a couple days.
  6. The Front Porch

Ive looked up their website. Sadly they really don't have much info of the excursion trains just the freight operations. However, they did have pics of the passenger train & I really like their open air car.
  7. Last week
  8. The Front Porch

For you RailroadWoman. The train is all ready for upcoming rides. Had to stop and snap a few pics for you on my way home this evening. There are some others I want to get too.

What is this egg cracking contest thing? I've never heard of it! I put Gallardo, who I think I may be calling "Ever" (short for Best Horse Ever) out with the other two yesterday and they did pretty well. Chrome had 3 bites on his chest and Ever had one small mark on a lip. Chrome may have met his match!
  10. The Front Porch

Jubal, last week Zip was really starting to she out. Magoo usually starts when the days being to get longer. LC, sound like you got the perfect pup for your family.
  11. The Front Porch

Thanks for asking about Zeke. He is awesome! Socialization is going well and he is learning all of his basic commands. He is a really snuggly pup, too! He and John run laps outside and he is getting very good with the cats. The livestock don't intimidate him and he is showing curiosity towards them. He will be 11 weeks old on Friday. Looks like a good farm day for those girls, Queen. :)
  12. The Front Porch

Heidi - Best of luck with Gallardo - so glad he is with you, I am sure he will do fine in your care. LC - we also do the egg cracking contest on Easter! Queen - Love the experiences you give your cowgirls, your horses and yourself!
  13. The Front Porch

I was surprised at how soon yours were shedding. My horse has just begun to shed heavily in the last week and we had a mild winter and spring.
  14. The Front Porch

Surprised at how fuzzy the minis are. You had had alot of sunny weather & they are still hanging onto fuzzy wuzzy.
  15. The Front Porch

True, but theyre doing the same for me!
  16. The Front Porch

Queen, you are giving those girls a life experience they would probably never have had. No telling how you might have altered their stories!
  17. The Front Porch

Just a couple pics from yesterday
  18. The Front Porch

LC, how is your pup doing?
  19. The Front Porch

Good for you, Heidi, for rescuing Gallardo. I'm sure his owners were relieved, even if they were sad. I hope his vet check goes well.
  20. The Front Porch

The bull leaves today. We are loading him up and taking him to be collected for two weeks. Then, straight to the slaughterhouse down the street. The steer will join him the same day. Meanwhile, the little calf that missed her friend is bonding with us instead.
  21. The Front Porch

I hope the vet is able to get him straightened out and on the road to recovery. You need good news after everything you've been through.
  22. The Front Porch

Just a funny moment the camera caught? I'm noticing it in both pictures but I know in each he was making a fairly tight turn. I'm off on Tuesdays and I'll give him a careful eye as I watch him move around today. Even if I miss something, vet will see next week.
  23. The Front Porch

Heidi, Wish you luck with Gallardo, I'm sure he'll do fine & look like a new horse with time, in your capable hands. Glad you found him, & he found you. I look forward to seeing updates on his progress in the near future. Take Care & Best Wishes. PD

What a nice evening. I let Zarinna (cowgirl #1) take Lyric (cowgirl #2) under her wing this evening. They set up the obstacles together and worked with the minis. Lyric is meticulous when shes grooming, it was fun to watch her. I got the big horses dewormed and fed while they did their thing. Lyric loved every minute, and I think Zarinna likes having a partner. I told Zarinna when Whitewash was finished her dinner she could give Lyric a leg up and lead her back into the field to be turned out. (We do this often and its a very short ride, 5 steps, through the gate, and then youre done.) Zarinna has never given anyone a leg up but I assured her that Lyric knew what to do. I didnt offer any help (and pretended to be busy with something else) because I knew they could do it together and I wanted to see how they worked together. Before I knew it Lyric had climbed the fence next to Whitewash and was instructing Zarinna to push Whitewash over closer to the fence so she could jump on! I nearly died laughing! This kid has guts and I love it! Maybe she will help build Zarinnas confidence. Whitewash stepped away from the fence so I did end up lending a hand (but not much) and I let Lyric hop on from the fence. Zarinna then led them out into the field. They cleaned up the obstacles and put everything away, eagerly cleaned the horses fed pans for me, and we called it an evening. I came home and got my firepit going. A friend stopped by and we sat around the firepit, even made some hotdogs on my little grill. Now winding down and getting ready for 2 days at work. (Ill post pics tomorrow.)
  25. The Front Porch

He will blossom under your care, Heidi. It's probably just the angle, but that left hind angle looks funny to me. Maybe just a gaited horse thing?
  26. The Front Porch

Usually takes a month for tick treatment to get in the system. Some work faster. Heidi poor boy you'll have him right as rain before you know it. It is very heart breaking to see someone give up their beloved critter for the right reasons. Heck when I picked up Zip I was almost crying from being around the gal who was selling.
  27. The Front Porch

Ooo, Gallardo is handsome. Just lounging outside in my hammock waiting for Cowgirl #2 to get dropped off. We've got lots to do today. Probably wont have time for it all. Benny goes to the vet on Friday for a couple shots, a heartworm test, and a well pooch visit. Shes on a flea and tick preventative but I didnt give it to her all winter. I just started her back up last month. Im wondering if the med has to build up in her body or if it works right away. Ive pulled 3 lonestar ticks off of her in a week. I hate lonestar ticks, theyre the ones that cause alpha gal (red meat allergy). Ill check with the vet Friday about it.
