Camera Help (cross Post), worked fine, now won't focus Options

Hey all, I've got a Nikon Coolpix L1 digital camera, I've had it roughly 3-5 years (can't remember now). I used it august 1-3 weekend and it took awesome action shots, nice clear & focused shots. Now recently it won't even focus so I can't take any pictures, I haven't changed ANY settings, I normally just mess with certain "scene" options that suit the pictures I'm taking best, never any internal settings (lighting and such).

I was messing with any and every setting last week to try to get it to work, and the only way I could get some half decent pictures was turning on the Macro close-up, even then the pictures weren't of the quality they should have been.

Any ideas? I figured I'd ask here, I plan on bringing it to blacks (camera place) and they said they could have one of their technicians take a look at it, or have it sent away for 35$ to a place to have it looked at where they tell me what's wrong with it and a quote for the cost.

So, any ideas? I really can't afford a new camera at this time which sucks, so was hoping I could get some camera savvy people on here to give it a shot?
