Back in May I consigned 5 custom show jackets with Karens Kustoms & Konsignments as I had had great success in getting several jackets sold thru her last year. These jackets are quite spendy and to this day I have sent numerous emails & faxes but have not gotten a single response. There is no phone number listed on the website except the fax number. I found what I am assuming is her home phone number but was only able to leave a voice message which did not get me a return call. The jackets were mailed Priority Mail with a tracking number so I know they were delivered to the address on the consignment form. I called the store where her consigment shop is located but the phone number they gave me for her is disconnected.

Her kids names are Cody, Kellie & Joel and I believe they show on the Pacific Coast QH circuit. I am hoping somebody might be able to tell me how to get in touch with her as I'd really like to find out what happened to my jackets as they represent a pretty good 'chunk of change'.

There are a lot of people looking for her. There have been threads on the Pleasure Horse Forum and Just Horsin' about her, and people not being able to get their consignments back. You might want to check those forums (both are Delphi forums) and see if there is any more news. Good luck!

Yep, been lots of people in your boat and her son still showed at the AQHYA World last August after all this started coming out. Now it sounds like she has shut her doors completely. I think with the bad economy she got in over her head.

Thanks...this is what I was afraid of. The feed store where she has her stuff told me it was still there so I guess I will keep after them to see if they have seen her or to notify me if & when they do. I absolutely HATE being ripped off! bang_head.gif

Where in CA is she located?

I'm in Southern CA and have never heard of her, but then again i've been out of showing for quite some time.

If she's local to me I can ask around. The Los Angeles Equestrian Center is right around the corner from my home and I'd be willing to ask around there next time I go if you'd like.

Thanks for your offer of help Corina33. She lives in Aptos CA and she has stuff in the General Feed & Seed Store on Commercial Way in Santa Cruz.

Does she have it like in a consignment section of the store? I mean, if it is out to the public, will the feed store owner allow you to get it if you have proof that you sent it to her?

Well Laura I could ask the Equestrian Center if anyone knows her, but Santa Cruz is up north quite a bit from me. I will ask around next time I go though.

Well I just found something on the internet about Karen's Kustoms being at the Christensen's Saddlery in Loomis CA for their anniversary sale on November 11th, 12th & 13th. Hopefully I can get ahold of somebody there who might know how to contact Karen since they have her advertised as one of the vendors at their sale.

Thanks for pointing out the added phone number Fatty L...I didn't even notice it when I saw that her website had been updated.

And thanks for the PM equi-librium, I appreciate your help!

As cool rabbit posted, this has been a problem pointed out on other forms.
I hope she is answering her new number and everything works out for you.
Edited to add:
Earlier this year Karen told us that she had cancer and was struggling.
Nice to read that she better.

Well I got an email from her today...and she says she still has my jackets. Claims to have sent me several emails that I never received. Now...to see how things play out. I did mention to her that other people were looking for her...so maybe there is some hope for me and everybody else rolleye0014.gif

I know exactly what you are going through! I sent a ton of clothes up to her around a year ago. Well she hasnt sold anything so I asked to get them back. That was 2 months and several rounds of emails ago. Completly unprofessional. Her phone number though is 4082064941. Good luck!

I wouldnt expect to get your things back or at least not all of them but yet she can still afford to buy new horses.... she leased and then sold a horse illegally and from what i understand keeps a few items every time she returns stuff....

Well it would sure be nice if she gave us a phone number to the store, not just her home and cell number. If I talked to an employee in the store im sure I'd have better luck with getting a list of what was sold. Unfortunatly I don't remember what all I sent her...major bummer

I had a brief round of email conversations with her and then no response. Perhaps she is sick. I didn't have any real problems with her when I consigned one jacket with her last year which did sell and I did get paid for. I did talk to somebody on the phone at the store she sells out of but they really were not any help as the only phone number they had for her was disconnected. I did file an online internet fraud/complaint on her which resulted in getting paperwork to fill out & return to the District Attorney of the County of Santa Cruz. This makes me think that maybe I am not the only one who has filed such a complaint formally. I think I will call Christensen's Saddlery in Loomis CA where she is listed as a vendor for their anniversary sale and let them know that they may have a rather 'unscrupulous' person in their midst. Sigh.....there's just NO excuse for jerking people around and ripping them off.

Well what she's doing is incredible...just unbelievable...And the claim of her having cancer is completly untrue as I have shown at shows with her son. But good for you for filing a claim. I hope it works out. I can't believe she would rip this many people off. i have lost any and all respect I ever had for her.

OMG. What a terrible thing it is that she told people she had cancer and did not. I did not realize that she wasn't ill.

It is too bad that you have had to go through all this to get your items back.
Good for anyone that files claims.

Unfortunately that vendor list for Christensens is last years sale, it doesnt match the dates for this years sale.... I have a friend who called the Santa cruz sheriffs dept also but she said she finally got her stuff back. But if this woman is so in debt that she needs to steal horses and clothing why is it she is buying yet another horse. I also understand that everyone on the west coast knows the girl she stole the horse from and Karens name is mud on the American Quarter Horse Show Circuit. Well I wish everyone luck with getting their stuff back.

Oh leave it to me to not notice it's last years sale info. ashamed0002.gif Mandie347, I received an email from her on Oct. 25, so I wrote back that same day, she answered me back on the 27th, and I answered her that same day, and haven't received anything from her since. Funny thing is she wrote to me on the 25th rather out of the blue since my last email to her was over a month before that, but it was just one day after I had filed on online complaint against her.

True, she has the choice to respond or not but no response will equal me filling out and submitting the paperwork I received from the County of Santa Cruz District Attorney if I either do not get my jackets back and/or the money she received if she sold them. One can't get blood out of a turnup but one can certainly mash the turnup winking0073.gif

I find it appalling that she can afford to buy a new horse from back east plus the expense to ship to the west coast but wont return peoples clothing or their money? Also the fact she has already stolen a horse from another girl is not ok. And people on the other forums say she still has their stuff too.
Mashing turnips sounds good..... obviously the turnip has money to pay you though or return your stuff if she can afford a new horse. It sounds like avoidance.
