Just curious if any of you guys would even consider buying a trailer that old...

I am trying to decide if it's worth finishing the remodel on my trailer to sell it, or if the reason there's no intrest is the age. It has new paint, new tires, new wires, ect. Undercarriage still looks good and everything is still in working condition, but just curious if the age is an instant turnoff.

ETA some pics...
Showing its age-

When we finished the initial remodel to get it back in working condition, the inside still isn't completely painted yet though...

Mine is a 75 four horse Hale. (and I pull it with my 89 Suburban)
Love it.

As long as the body is in good condition........the floor has been rebuilt or re-inforced.....trailer is sound, someone will want it.

When i was first looking for a trailer, those were the kind that were in my budget! And while I was in 4-H, older trailers like those were what most of the newbies had. They make great starter trailers, and the price is never outrageous. I think you will definitely draw some attention from families who just bought the first pony, or someone looking for something they can have for vet trips and short distances. Finishing out the interior will definitely be a perk for prospective buyers as well!

The only thing that is working against you right now, though, is the economy itself.

Good luck :)

I would in a heartbeat. Of course, my horses are all about 14 hands so that is the right height. Most people now are looking for a taller trailer. Plus they want dressing/tack rooms.

I wouldn't.

I find that even tho remodels like that are nice, especially if they have been rebuilt well, I find that most of the older trailers are also smaller in size for the horses. Like the other poster said, it wouldn't matter if you have smaller horses, but for my large horses, there's almost no extra space if they need to move around. Most of them are also not designed with ergonomics in mind and most don't have doors to get to the horse's head if you need to get one untangled or need access to the horse of the side a busy highway without taking the horse out.

I can say after using a friend's trailer that didn't have a tack room for a while, I will never go back to using one again. My trailer has a large tackroom and I so much more appreciate it on those rainy days when I don't want to throw my tack in the back of the truck or ride home with a sweaty saddle pad sitting next to me in the truck.

Edited to add....

Not to mention, if you're not practical like me when it comes to rebuilding and maintaining the old trailers, it's worth it spend a couple thousand more to buy something modern or even new as most of those old refurbished trailers often sell for about $1500-$2000 around here.

if it were in good condition w/no...not much rust & structerly(sp?) sound. I would love to buy back my 1978 Arndt (now Collin-Arndt), but hubby keeps telling me no.
