I believe my Schnauzer Maggie has dog lice. I first thought they were fleas. But they are flat and grey not round and brown like all the other fleas I have seen. So I was giving her flea baths every other weekend and they didnt go away.

So I researched online and really think it lice now. Everything at Petsmart is for fleas and ticks. What can I get to treat lice? and how can I help prevent her from being reinfested?

Sevin dust from the garden store will kill them.

YUP!

Get a sack of 10% Sevin Dust. Put a cup of it in an old sock. Then, pat the dog all over with the sock and they will get just enough Sevin to kill everything including ticks.

Use the Sevin Dust to treat the places where they lay and sleep, too or they will just get them back on them again.

I would also deworm the dog and evaluate its over-all health and condition. Healthy dogs on a good diet usually don't get lice -- same as horses in the winter and spring that get lice.
