Hey guys, I need ideas! We have a show coming up on the 30th and we get to dress up! I'm sure you all have made some pretty kick butt costumes for your horses, so I need something relatively easy. So what have yall done in the past?

I was thinking Barbie and horse? She looks like the barbie horse, Nibbles, if anyone knows what I'm talking about! :D

Edited because I found a pic!

If you could find the right type of paint (I'm not sure what to use) you could paint her like a peppermint, and get two sheets of clear plastic to attach to each of her ends? Not sure what you would be though......

I always thought that a flower and bee combo. would be cute! My sister had a black and white paint and I thought it would be cute to paint black and yellow stripes on the horse and a big stinger on the back. Then the rider would be all green with flower petals around the neck. My sister never like it though!

I've seen this one and liked it:

Horse: dressed as lamb w/ cotten balls
rider dressed at little bo peep

That's funny that you wrote this! Once year we took a mini trick-or-treating with us. He had a little black & yellow striped blanket with bumblebee wings sewn on. Was he ever a hit with the town neighborhood we went to. A couple years later we took the same mini as a sheep. Yep, glued hundreds of cotton balls to a sheet. Didn't work so well though, we left a trail of cotton balls through the neighorhood. There was no denying where we had been!

Ha so did the people dressed as the sheep in the show! cotten balls everywhere.
I loved the flower idea but nobody ever wants to do it! but the wings, stinger, and antena would be sooo cute!!

You could go to a costume store and just see what they have that you could mimic! I've never been a fan of dressing up for holloween but I like dressing up horses! :)

I think she would look cool as a Unicorn. Put a cardboard cone on a halter and then you dress as a fairy princess???

Smile.... it will make people wonder what you are up too. :happy0203:

OR you could dress up in red with green leafy things coming off of a helmet, and leave her as a horse.

And voila... you have a horse-radish.

She would make a perfect unicorn!!!! I had a white horse that was a Unicorn one year and it was great. Go to the craft store and get a styrofoam cone, like this one http://www.save-on-c.../foamcones.html we sprayed painted it gold and added a gold ribbon, that we applied in a spiral around it. We then took an old headstall and put a screw through the browband into the cone. Viola... done!!! I actually wore old curtains as my princess gowns, so cheap, easy and fast!!!! We placed 2nd in the costume class beaten out by my best friend who was Joan of Arc and I made her horses costume on the way to the show!!!
Whatever you decide you have to post pictures.

Wow great ideas! My favorite is the horse-radish idea! I'm just afraid people wouldn't figure out what we were... lol

I like the unicorn thing too, but I don't want there to be any other unicorns there! Which I'm the only person with a horse that isn't bay or chestnut in this crowd, so that probably wouldn't be a problem.

Epona- I still have Nibbles and her barn! All of that stuff and my breyer horses are packed away some where. I also had this really weird Barbie horse that was a dark palomino and she had to have batteries and she walked, I think she was called high stepper. It was actually kind of creepy.

I was also thinking she'd be a cute "My Little Pony", but don't know what I'd be!

I've been looking around online and found this info.

Jello Mix - Easy to mix up, just paint on. Easy to wash off.

Food coloring - Dilute in a bucket and paint on. Easy to apply but not to wash off.

Chalk - Grind up different colors of chalk and apply, you can wet the chalk dust to make a paste which may be easier to apply.

Edited because I can't spell. :ashamed0002:

Kids crayola finger paints are PERFECT for horses. They are non toxic and washable.
