I caught him in the act today and have pictures to proove it :rolleye0014: Super takes out the electric tape on my fence line between the neighbors every day. Yes, the fence is hot, a few times I thought it was not and foolishly picked it up to fix it and got zapped once I removed it from being grounded. OUCH! But I think his donkey fur and that small zap are not enough to detour him from this....

which then results in this..

this spring the plan is to switch to straight electric wire or rope in hope that delivery a better zap.

He looks like he is having such fun!

Eyore has done that several times. The bare wire does seem to deter him better as well as switching to a larger charger.

I think it does have a lot to do with the hair type, the goats with their super thick coarse hair have no respect for it either. When I get the new fences up at my place I am getting the biggest fence charger our tsc carries. 200 mile, 15,400 volt output for seven acres. :happy0203:
Thor - Paint/Belgian x gelding
Eyore - Donkey
Gidget, Pollyanna, Sunshine, Grimlin - Nigerian Dwarf does
Ivy, DC, Miss Daisy, Eli, Barney - Cats
Basil, Ginger - Miniature Pinchers
Fred - Border Collie
And some chickens, guineas, and fish

Our goat did that all the time. When I changed to just wire and got a 2 joule charger for I think a 5 mile radius she never touched it again. But I also only had 1 strand on the bottom for her on half an acre. Can you say YOWZA! It only took once though. Then she started getting out of the gate, darn goats.

my neighbor must have a stronger charger, she recently turned her fence on because she moved some of the horses around. Super has got a few shocks leaning over and the fence has been left alone the last few days. :happy0203:

After walking outside and seeing this....

Posted Image

I decided to just remove all the electric tape from the front part of the pasture where Super plays with it. I left the rest up and turned it on out back, it should be effective enough to keep him off the fence out back. There is less temptations out there anywhere. When we get time we will string up straight wire on the front and repair where he pushes on the fence.

he paws it down then once it is on the ground it is no longer effective then he procceeds to just wrap himself up in the tape and play with it. He never worries about getting stuck or panics he know it will eventually snap and fall away from his body.
