Yesterday I put Belle and Indy out in the field for the first time this year, they sure were happy to get out for a good run! Chris snapped a few pictures for me, just thought I might share!

First I took their sheets off, Indy had to inspect his...

Then he thought he might chew on it a little...

Thanks so much! Belle really surprised me when her mane started turning white. She had a streak about an inch wide for a couple of years, then shortly before she turned 20, it went completely white within a couple of weeks. She also has a big streak at the top of her tail, as well as four white feet (but no socks)

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen Belle. What color do you think she is genetically? I've rarely heard of horses actually changing color.

Indy and your pup and kitty are such cuties too! I'm a huge fan of brown tabbies.

Great photos.

Belle is black, her daddy was a black and white Appy, and mom was a chestnut QH. I'd probably call her pattern a snowflake, she does have small spots and individual white hairs all over her body that don't show up well in pictures. She's pretty cool to look at for sure! I've always been told that Apps usually change color by 6-8 years, but she never started until she was almost 20. She had a streak in her mane about an inch wide for a couple of years, but the rest of her mane started to change and was completely white within about a month and a half.

If you like brown tabbies, you'd be in heaven around here! In addition to Lucy, there is her brother Ricky (who is all gray tabby, with no white) Their momma is also around alot of the time, she is also a brown tabby. Momma had a litter of one last fall, the kitten is a gray tabby like Lucy, but with a little less white. I believe Momma just had another litter (haven't been able to locate it yet) so I'm sure there are more little tabbies soon to appear.

I also want to mention that I am in the process of trapping everyone and bringing them to the local spay/neuter program  Momma is a smart little critter, she conveniently disappears as soon as I mention the word "trap" I'll catch her one of these days though!

Wow! What a stunning mare! I love mares.

I have a solid appy too. He is also black. But on the inside of his right thigh is a perfect white circle. (rolling eyes) why couldnt that have been somewhere noticable. He has no app traits. Not even striped hooves or mottling or anything. His mother was a gorgeous blanket app and his sire a frosted with snowflakes.

great pics. All of them.

Great looking animals! Your horse's white mane with the black coat is really cool!
