:thud: Last night in Wichita a tornado did damage to the building that I work in. So until farther notice I do not have a job. Don't know how long it will last. They have to replace the roof. Now this is not a small building. My job is in a building inside the other building. It is about the size of 8 football fields. I just hope I get back to work soon.

Wonder if the company will allow us to file for temp unemployment? I will have to do some research on that.

The tornado wiped out a trailer park just 4 miles from me. It was only a half mile from my house at one point. Thankfully with all the advanced notice, they were warning us 3 days in advance, there were no deaths. Only minor injuries and 8 taken to hospitals. Lots of clean up going on today. I did see the Air Force Tankers flying back in this morning.

Oh wow! Glad the results weren't worse than the injuries that did occur, and I hope you're able to collect some sort of unemployment or something... AND that they repair your place of work soon.

What kind of work do you do?

Stay safe!

Glad you're OK. I would think that you should be able to get unemployment until you can get back to work. I mean, this was an act of God that no one has control over. Have a talk with your supervisor about it. I hope your workplace gets up and running very soon. Prayers and hugs for you.

Thanks guys. :huggy: They are thinking maybe we can go bac Wednesday. I don't see how if half the roof on plant 2 is missing or messed up pretty bad. Suppose to have the electric back on by Tuesday. Guess it is a wait and see type of thing.

I work in the cafeteria at the local aircraft plant. I am just so glad that everyone took these storms seriously. It could have turned out so much worse. We had a score of 9 out of 10 on the thor scale. The time frame that the weather center predicted was right on too. Was between 9pm to 2am. It was about 9:30 when it got here. Came up from Oklahoma as a 3/4 mile wide wedge. They said it was one the ground, up and down, for over 200 miles. At least that is what they were saying on the local news.

Today was a beautiful day. Slight breeze, sunny, and calm. Hope we don't see anything like that again for a long long time. The season has just begun.

Glad to hear you are ok Goatmom! As you know, my oldest sister lives in Whicita and was letting us know what was going on. The tornado touched down a mile from their place as well and luckly no of them were hurt either. Hope you get to go back to work soon. In this economy, no one can afford to be out of work for even a short time. Many :huggy: and :angel3: to you!

I am so glad you and most others are okay. I had no idea that they could predict waves of tornados like that until this incident.

Thanks guys. :huggy: They are thinking maybe we can go bac Wednesday. I don't see how if half the roof on plant 2 is missing or messed up pretty bad. Suppose to have the electric back on by Tuesday. Guess it is a wait and see type of thing.

I am always impressed at how fast stuff like that can happen, so I wouldn't be surprised if they can pull that off. Assuming there are enough workers to go around; I'm sure all the contractor types in the area are extremely busy.

As far as your job, definitely look into unemployment. In California, they do not pay for the first week of work missed, but I don't know what they situation is where you are. Also, is there federal support for people like you, since it's been declared a disaster? I'd find out.

Glad you are okay. Hope the back to work estimates are right, but I wouldn't wait to look into, and apply for unemployment, if your circumstances quality. There is a waiting period in most states, so the earlier you apply, the sooner you get the money to help pay those bills, and buy food.
