On April 27-28, 2013. The BLM is coming to the Placerville Fairgrounds two minutes off of HWY 50 at 100 Placerville Drive.
Adoptions are from 8am-5pm both days.

They haven't been publicizing this event locally and any horse not adopted will be considered by the BLM to have a strike against it.
If your interested in adopting one of these 40 horses or burros please call at 800-545-4256 or go to the BLM website at: http://www.blm.gov/c..._and_burro.html

I hope many get adopted.

There is going to be an interview today on NBC's today show concerning native horses and the BLM.

Edited to add: Just read on facebook that the interview has been postponed. :(

Thanks Rose.
It's really odd that the only place the BLM posted the adoption was on the net. No posters in local feed stores, nothing in the local newspapers & the fairground's own site... zip, zero, nada. One of my horse club members was looking at the BLM horses online and noticed that there would be an adoption at the fairgrounds! :confused0024:
The last one here was more than 10 years ago, so it's a big deal for the locals. Normally, people around here go to Palomino Valley in Nevada or Oregon for Kigers or Steins horses.

Did they say when the interview will be done? I'd like to watch that interview.

I get emails from wild horse protection sites and they said today or Monday. But they said they'd email me when it was going to be on, and I haven't heard anything. So, evidently not today.

As far as adoption days, the BLM discontinued Saturday adoptions due the sequester. Dumb. Saturdays, you'd think, would be the best days for people to come.

I'm always amazed at how hard it is to find out about BLM stuff, but I don't read horsey magazines or go to feed stores. I get e-mails from the Sacramento Horsemen's Association, so I knew about the last one they had there. I got to meet a couple of well-broke adopted horses and lots of cool people. It is so neat to see how well the wranglers do their jobs and how hard the BLM folks and volunteers work.

They still have it listed on the Federal site. Yet the CA site no longer has it listed??? :twitch:

They want to adopt out "unwanted" horses & burros?
Umm, how about making it easy to find out where & when & what ages or sexes are going to be there?

I'd love a weanling or yearling from Andi's area that does an Indian Shuffle.
Sienna is doing her best to bend over the 5 foot high no climb fences by leaning against them. So the fences wouldn't pass as safe for a wild horse.

I'm buying the hot wire holders that extend about 6 inches away from the fence. She can dodge the hot wire t-post caps, but a second lower strand should zap that pushy idea right out of her head. :rotf:
