Many of you have probably seen pictures of my brood before. I have a 2.5 yr schnauzer who is a total saint and potty trained but last year I added a puppy into the mix and she has been a total terror lately.
Fred used to sleep with me but was also crate trained and with the new puppy in the mix I had them both sleeping in their own crates side by side.
Anyways the real issue is that this dog cannot seem to grasp potty training. She was doing pretty well for awhile but she just doesn't seem to care about peeing or pooping in her crate/ on herself and definitely doesn't care about going inside. I can take her outside and be out there for an hour with her having peed and pooed and when she gets inside she will go again. It is a never ending battle. Because of this I can never have her out unless I am literally following her around or she is sitting next to me. I don't know what to do.
I helped train my parents dogs and also trained my other dog. I am not sure what to do about this. I imagine that my recent move was probably hard on her and as Fred my other dog was already familiar with the house he didn't care. But regardless this issue needs to be resolved.
So what are some solutions for potty training the older puppy and getting it through her pea brain that she needs to go outside not inside. Any and all suggestions would be helpful. I would at some point like to be able to have my dogs loose in the house when I am not home but right now they are confined to crates because I don't want her destroying everything. Please note that I don't lock them in crates 24/7 just when I personally am not home they can't be running loose.
