Here are some new pics of Gracie aka Baby Doo Doo as the kids have been calling her.
She's 4 months old now. Her foal coat is nearly gone and she's grey now.
She's leading and lunging, yeilds her hindquarters and will stand quietly in the cross ties (for a little while, 5-10 minutes tops) and she also clips and will stand for her feet to be trimmed.
She's completely weaned now, which she did by herself. I guess she'd rather have grass and feed than milk.
She also stands around 13 hands now.

She loves to play in the creek.

QUOTE (scd @ Jun 18 2009, 08:49 PM)

I can not believe how tall she is!!!!!
She just a monster, scd.
If you notice how 'thick' she looks in the bottom picture, it was taken in May, then she's taller and leaner in the creek pics. She's growing so fast, one week she's tall and lean and literally the next, she's as broad as she is tall.
I'm wondering if she's eating too much, but my brothers a vet and swears a weanling can't have too much to eat.
so, I dunno (shrugging shoulders) otherwise, she's just flippin' huge, and she's like a darn billy goat! It's really steep here and she runs just as fast as she can
everywhere, down banks, across ditches, thru the manure pile, off rock piles, she's wild! But, lol, I just turn her loose and she can go where ever she wants, she gets scared, she flys to me and sticks her head under my arm,
like I'm her mom. Silly baby!
(edited to add) SCD, how's willow?

I don't think she's growing too fast. At least as far as being overfed. She's not pig fat. Just gowing. Her mama was a big one and you can't control genectics. She also has plenty of room to run and play and that just helps her grow and develop. She's fine.............and BIG!
I think silly in babies just make them fun. Enjoy her while you can.
Willow is doing good. She's off the constant stall confinement. They do spend the day inside but that's by choice. They won't come out til the suns gones down some. it's been freakin HOT here. They love the fan!

I just saw Willow pics! She's a Beauty!
I'm glad somebody has some sun! lol! it has rained here every day for two weeks, not just rain, but downpours. We've had over 8 inches of rain since Tuesday the 16th. It's ridiculous, but I'm afraid we are going to get to dog days and there will be no rain for a while.

oh gosh, I'm so thankful and I'll get pics today, but we had a fried of some friends call us last week looking for a couple of good racking geldings.
Sent them videos of what we did have, which was 2 spotted brothers to Gracies mom that were 3 year olds and no papers (one was out of Darlin's moms full sister, which made it her brother by blood). And a 3 year old out of my sisters mare (I posted some pics of her sorrel filly a while back).
The lady called to say that she wanted all three of them got my address and told me that a transporter would be contacting me to pick them up.
The next day I recieved an express envelope with a check from her for $9,000. And the transporter called to say that it would be today when he picked them up.
Thank God!!
That puts me down to 8 horses now. I sold my grey SLL 4 year old and the 2 HBC geldings last month since I bred my old show mare to That Sly Cat.
Now if I could sell hubbys pali sortin'/pennin' horse and his lil' bay show gelding, we'd be down to a good number before winter.

You can come and get every bit of this sun. I'll take your rain. It has been at or over a 100 here for several days. I so tired of being hot ( and let's throw in some hot flashes)
My old Rat mare is starting to lose a little weight because of the heat. She has such a hissy fit when you try and stall her it's worse then letting her stay out.
Glad you are selling some. I have 2 more to sell and then I can sit tight and hang on a while. Hope you can sell the others you want.
I'll be waiting for you to get this d--- sun!

just go tell you sun to take a hike up here to western NC!! Tell it I'll welcome it with open arms.
we went riding at Moses Cone Estate today and had to sit under a barn shed for 2 hours while the bottom fell out of the sky. the horses were standing in water up to their fetlocks!
I need to till my garden and hoe it, but its just mud! but my corn is about waist high and my beans are about 4ft up the wire I run them up, and I walked thru this afternoon and saw a head of brocolllii that needs picking, but I'll tear my tomatoes down sliding inm the mud trying to get to it, lol.
as for selling horses, i cant believe that 3 year old unregistered riding horses sell faster than good kid safe quarter horses. I mean my son stands on the pali mares back bareback with a halter and slides off her butt, but you can take her out and team pen or sort on her all day. The quarter horses have a heck of a lot more training and hours than the 3year olds, ya' know.

You can have it!!! I'll drive it to you!!!! it was a freakin 103 today. They say hotter tomorrow. I was going to take some pics at a cutting practice but I have changed my mind. It going to be too hot to stand around for that.
You never know what someone wants to buy. I darn sure can't hardly give one away. If I could just sell the 3 yr. old I would fine.

Oh just BITE ME!!!!!

I'm kidding.
I am sooooo tired of this heat. I just watch the news and the weather heifer said right now it is 85 with an index of 94. It's after 11 pm!!!!!!!
I have been keeping the horses here at the house inside with fans during the day. Not much I can do for the 3 at the other place. They do have shade but I feel for them, especially the old mare. I want to bring her home but I don't have a stall for her right now and no one to move.
Think of me in the next "frigid" rain.
Halo's Mom

Yeah Spiffy, I've been thinking I needed to get some pics but things are insane around her...I've become a one woman show, hubbys always gone so I do my jobs and his too...omg you have no idea, lol...I'll try to get some good ones of the brat tomorrow if it stops raining and the camera batteries hold up, you would think for a $400 phone, a Blackberry would take a better pic than it does, lol, oh well...dude has become a striking young man these days. How does he like life without mommy? Gracie could care less, mom, on the other hand, flipps out every time she sees her, she nickers and paws and fidgets and frets, gets on my last nerve... She's not the same dream ride, calm and peaceful horse she was last year. No, she's a hellion, typical of Max babies. I think I've put 3 bicyclists off the creeper trail in the past 2 months...well, Darlin' has...she looks for them coming behind her and when they get close, she starts running backwards kicking at them!! And, do you know how stupid people are? They try to hurry and go on around her!! HELLO!! STOP THE BIKE!!! One old goober tried to go around her, I yelled at him, he stops, 2 behind him crash into him and he falls off his bike and rolls down the bank into the river...I'm like, there are signs posted every 100yards that says horses have the right of way, stop bikes and stand beside them til horses are out of the way...how hard is that?

Aug 29 2009, 09:56 PM
Well, they're not too bad. The 1st one looks like you moved and the pic snapped, but the 2nd one isn't bad at all!
Dude's doin' good without momma, he has Drifter. Spiffy could care less right now. Although she might miss her grain as she's not getting any to help dry her up faster, plus she's on grass and doesn't need it.
We need some signs like that, but I'm sure they'd ignore them here as well. Ya know that there is a law here that states that horses have the right a way, I think over cars too! Ya gotta remember, most people don't use the common sense they were born with any more.
Gracie is so beautiful!!!
