  1. Need A Name!

Hey Everyone, Haven't posted here in a while, but I know you guys are usually helpful in the naming game. My friend is getting a yearly TB colt that is currently unnamed. He is going to be hunter, maybe an eq horse. He's chestnut with a blaze and white stockings. His Sire is Utopia and his dam is Counting Visions. She'd like something that has to do with one or both. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!!!!
  2. Smart Tendon By Smartpak

Trust me I have been too....the biggest problem is I can't leave him in on stall rest as he explodes and will do far more damage then he can do going out.....Did you use any other therapeutic methods...i.e. shockwave, or therapeutic ultrasound? I'm going to get a second opinion I think, but I find it interesting what each person does. I'm a physical therapist so I understand the healing process and the use of various therapeutic methods, but just curious what you have been doing. Thanks!
  3. Smart Tendon By Smartpak

Hey Guys, Wondered what your thoughts were on Smart Tendon made by smartpak for tendon/ligament injuries. I am working with a vet as well, but didn't get much information from her about it, only well you can try it if you want. Just wondered if anyone had any experience with it. Thanks! Amy
  4. Once Upon A Time I Actually Knew How To Ride...

Sounds like you might be headed to Fleet Feet...Try icing it or massaging it too, that could help, but definately sounds like you need new shoes. Maybe I'll see you around the shows in syracuse this year and congrats on the 1/2 Marathon that's a big step to take!!
  5. Preakness

Just curious what happened to I Want Revenge, I thought they were headed toward the preakness? I hear it was a great race, but missed it because I was at a horse show....It'll be interesting to see what happens in the Belmont....
  6. Arabian Sport Horse In Hand

I did a tight neat french braid and actually ended up doing the rest of thier horses for them as well since they were impressed I could keep the braid so tight and neat...guess it pays to play with learning other styles of braiding!! Thanks for the help!!
  7. Arabian Sporthorse In-hand

Thanks the woman I talked to said her mane was short so i was thinking hunter braids, but after looking at it...it's definately the running french, but wanted other opinions since I don't normally get asked at the arab shows to braid, but I'm more then happy to...glad i played with learning how to while i was a kid at the barn!! Thanks so much!!
  8. Arabian Sport Horse In Hand

I am a professional braider in the hunter world but had someone call me to do a mane for them for the arabian show...She started out thinking she wanted the french braid but then also mentioned maybe a true hunter mane. I'm just looking for what is more commonly done in the arabian world as I am not familiar with it, but can do either braiding technique. Thanks for the help!

  11. Supportive Boots/wraps

Just wondering what all your opinions are on this. Thanks!
  12. Ligament/tendon Injuries

I now remember why I quit posting here in the first place. Like I said I will be calling a vet if he comes up lame again, but I'm taking my time. So thanks for the sarcasm....
  13. Ligament/tendon Injuries

Thank you for your opinion, and i'm sorry i'm looking at a broader picture, but I was hoping to learn not just about the potential injury that my horse has, but more about leg injuries then what I already know. Sorry I am looking to gain more knowledge then what I actually need to know about my horse specifically.
  14. Ligament/tendon Injuries

I know that, and completely understand that but I'm not asking what I have going on with my horse...I'm asking what prognosis is for various injuries. An x-ray will not show ligament or tendon damage, i will need to get an ultrasound done, and if we don't come back sound I plan on doing that. I just want to know what the prognosis is for various injuries, check ligament, tendon, suspensory ligament injuries. I know i can't tell what he has without the ultrasound, but i'm curious about these injuries.
  15. Ligament/tendon Injuries

So my horse several weeks ago came in a little off on the left front. Gave him a few days off, wrapped him up and started him back slow. When I say a little off I really mean just a little, had a little swelling in the tendons, but in a few days was gone and he was sound. I didn't bute him or anything so it was a true sound. Rode him for a few days and popped him over an 18 in. cross rail (horse is a 3 ft hunter). Comes up lame again, so I've backed off and given him a month of wrapping with cool pack jelly, regular turnout as he's a weaver and would do more damge in the stall then outside. I'm slowly bringing him back, and he is sound, but got thinking about it and just wanted some more information on tendon injuries, suspensory injuries and check ligament injuries. I've looked on the internet and not found much. I'm looking at prognosis of all of them more so then anything...as I'm hoping to return to jumping, but plan on taking my time and if he comes up sore again will definately have vet out to do an ultrasound, but since there was nothing for an original injury just a being "off" and money being tight i'm trying to bring him back slowly...if anyone can shed some light on the injuries i asked for above I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
