  1. Hey, Hc "oldsters!"

Hi LA! I have been wondering how you have been doing. Sounds like you've had a big change in your life. I hope things are going well for you .
  2. Hey, Hc "oldsters!"

Hey all! I'm an oldster, in more ways than one lol. I haven't been here much in a while though. Good to see familiar names
  3. Montana Bison Range (* Picture Heavy *)

As always, I LOVED looking at your pictures! Just gorgeous, thank you for taking the time to post them. :)
  4. Sinus Surgery?

I guess I'm in the minority, I had the "roto rooter" surgery that Eskielvr referred to. I will NEVER do it again!! It was the most miserable surgery I've ever had. It actually made my sinuses more sensitive to dust & certain smells. It did help with the constant every day horrible sinus headaches I had for a while. I still get them on average once a week. I use something that is similar to a neti pot, only mine is a squeeze bottle with a saline solutiion in luke warm water. It was recommended by my doctor & you buy it over the counter, it comes with the bottle & lots of packets of the powder solution that you mix with lukewarm water. I hate doing it, but it really is the only thing that has helped me. I can tell when I have an infection starting, & I will use this solution every day for a couple of days & it clears it up. I never use medicated nose sprays, as they make me more prone to infections. I just use a saline nose spray several times a day. I also have to wear a dust mask when cleaning stalls & dealing with hay because of the dust & hay particles. This is what works for me.
  5. Sage And Odd Ball Pictures

Nice pics as always! Sage is gorgeous as ever ;). Nice looking babies too :)
  6. Fly Repellent Leg Bands

Never thought of trying the wrist band thingies. I'm going to have to try those! The flied & gnats are always bad here in the summer with our high heat & humidity, but they are REALLY bad this yr. I've tried several different fly sprays & nothing seems to be working this yr.
  7. I'm mostly allergic to dust both household & outside dust & also feed dust, like from oats. I actually had to quit feeding oats a few yrs. ago because I just couldn' take it anymore. My arms would itch for a while after each feeding & I got alot of sinus infections & headaches from the feed dust. Same for other dusts. I wear a mask when I clean stalls & when I'm pulling hay off my big round bales. My grass (weeds) need to be mowed but hubby is probably going to have to do it one day because we are so dry right now I'd be down for days with a sinus headache.
  8. Husky Or Malamute?

LoveMyDog, Great explanation & description of the 2 breeds! I've had 2 huskies & 1 malamute. From my experience, they are very high energy dogs. I love the dogs, but don't think I'd have another of either one. I just don't have the time both breeds need. Gorgeous dogs though! Oh yes & the hair! lots of it! I definitely wouldn't have one where I live now. We have way too much hot, steamy weather for lots of months out of the yr.

  14. That's crazy! I'm originally from CA. Except for the snow, that's the kind of weather we usually get here this time of yr. in AL. So far(knock on wood) it's been a very mild spring, weather wise. Ya'll stay safe!
  15. Making The Hay Stretch..

Just a thought, but with what you would be spending on supplementing some of the hay with other feed.. You may be spending the same as feeding strictly hay like you are doing now. I would check pricing on feeding both ways before changing anything. Personally, Like Tazzin, I prefer feeding more hay, better for the horse & it takes longer to eat which keeps them from getting bored. I feed my 4 off a big round bale. I store the bale in one of the stalls & pull off what I need. I used to just put a bale in the pasture but there was just too much waste. I have a wagon I pull behind my 4-wheeler, I load it up & drive out into the pasture & put it out in piles. I realize this won't work for you but just stating what I do ;). A round bale (1,000#+) lasts about 3 weeks in the winter. Hay & feed prices are already going up everywhere this yr due to fuel costs going up. Lucky for me, my FIL has a hay business so I get my hay from him........ for free
