  1. horse lose training from winter break?

Ok well thanks again. She has been going pretty good. She's gotten pretty responsive to the leg aids and such. She stands perfectly still for mounting and waits for me to tell her to go, has a really good stop and back up. Flexes her nose really well and turn on the forehand and turn on the haunches. Moves into the trot pretty good but no lope. Or I should say I haven't loped her. The trainer who has helped me get her started under saddle loped her in the roundpen. She moved off right away for him. I just never tried it. Oh and I don't have any plans as far as showing goes. Maybe little fun shows just to show her that kind of atmosphere. But anyways thanks again.

  3. horse lose training from winter break?

Wow i just read what all of you had to say and I guesse you helped me make my mind up about it. I was kind of leaning towards letting her out for the winter but wasn't too sure. All of you really helped me feel better about it. Thanks alot!

  5. horse lose training from winter break?

Thanks for answering. I know it probably seemed like a silly question to some people but she is the first horse I've brought along from baby to riding. But I wasn't too sure. But thanks again. Anyone else have any opinions? I'd love to hear some.

  7. Hi, I don't post very often but I have a question I have been pondering for the last week. I broke my 2 year old filly under saddle early this summer. She has had approximately 60 days worth of riding since the end of May. I've got her going really well and I've heard a lot of people say they give their young horses a break during the winter so they can grow some more and just be a horse. My question is do they forget after that much time off? I guess I should add that she is a very mild mannered mare who shows alot of trust in me. My boarding barn is in the middle of a move and for the rest of the winter we will not have very decent riding areas. The horses are in 24/7 pasture until we get new stalls built. But I was debating whether or not to move her to a barn that has a round pen and 2 riding arenas for the winter. Or just let her stay out in pasture with the other horses and just give her a break for the winter. OK now that I have blabbed on and on about this let me know what ya'll think. Thanks.

  9. Barrel Saddle

ithinkican- can you please PM me what the price would be for this saddle. I will try to get the picture of it. It really caught my eye. And also what size of tree do they come in? Thanks.
  10. Everybody with an Ammerman post pics of it Please!!

Hey, I would really like one of those. Of course I would need at least a couple months to save up for it LOL. I'm just wondering if it would be foolish to get one yet before my 2 year old finishes maturing since you know they can change so much. Do they seem to fit different kinds of horses? And do they hold up well? I hope you all don't mind me asking these questions on this thread. I just saw it on here and figured you all would know.Thanks.
  11. hernia surgery

Well thanks for your reply's. Hopefully it should go smoothly. I just got a little nervous because I'm sopposed to take her down either Monday or Tuesday. She's a good girl and I would hate for anyhting to happen to her. But I've been told that if it's not fixed the hole could tear and get a lot bigger. And I was also told that by this age if it was going to close on it's own it would have done so by now. She is 17 months old. Thanks again.

  13. hernia surgery

Ok I've got my yearling filly about ready to go into surgery to fix an umbilical hernia. I've had 2 different vets look at her and say the best way to go about it is to take her to the vet clinic at Kansas State and just suture the muscle together. It's a 2 finger hernia by the way. I just don't have any experience with hernia surgery and curious about it. Is it very high risk? And would it be a long recovery for her? One more question and I'll leave every one alone. But after she is healed up and better what are the chances that the hole in her muscle will reopen? Has that happened to anyone? Thanks for reading. I hope I made sense to you all.

  15. chiropractors in KS

Hey, I'm searching for a good chiropractor in Kansas or somebody who travels to KS. I've seen people mention one from Kansas City. I believe his name is Jerrod Kennel. I could be wrong. Has anybody ever worked with him before? If you have it could you PM me his phone number. Or like i said if you know of anybody. Thanks for any info.
