  1. Blown Shoulder in a horse?

Bethany yes I agree about this horse having a second chance and want the resp. party to give him that chance. He is such a sweet horse and I can't see him in pain. Can anyone of you tell me about your exp. with ring bone, white line or a shoulder problem to let me know if I decide to take on this resp. Thank You Heather P.S. I guess I'm looking for anyone with sucess stories on this issue.

  3. Blown Shoulder in a horse?

Thank you for your repl. today I went by there and took some pictures I will try to post later on so you all can see, but I'm thinking ring bone or white line just by the way he is holding his l/f hoof it is in the up-right pos. and his left leg is behind him and his hoof is long almost rolled and set back. Yes a vet should be called out by the barn owner I will talk to him later after work today to see if he can get a vet out anyways I never had any dealings with white line, ring bone or a blown shoulder so if anyone could advise me on it, just thinking what it would take to save this animal or if it would be best for euthansia? Thank You, Heather

  5. Blown Shoulder in a horse?

Where I board there is a very pretty paint that the prev. owners ABA, the owner of the stables asked me if I knew anyone who wants him for a paster pal I asked him how much he said $35.00 to cover a trim which is much needed than I asked why he said the horse has a blown shoulder that's why the prev. owners aba him at his stables he is lame and not rideable he will fall I asked what he meant by that? He said when you ride him he will fall on his knees due to the blown shoulder? I asked him if it will heal he said he did not know he should be put down he is in pain that's probly why the prev. owners left him there they did not have the heart to PTS the horse. So my question to you all what is a blown shoulder will it heal? Will the horse re-cover from his inj.? This horse is such a nice looking paint he's about 15+ hh and black & white paint 12 yrs old gelding. Is there any hope for this paint or would euthansia be the best for him? Thanks, Heather

  7. My horse bit me.

OH gosh memories! my mare would love to bite did not matter where as long as she could bite! What I did was throw up my hands and scream at her she did not know what to do she backed off and that worked for awhile than she would nibble or I call it lippy and I thought it was cute till she bite me again now I do not let her lip me at all she will get smacked in her chest or get an elbow in her shoulder or pushed away by what ever part of my body she is lippy with in the mouth she knows to stop if not I than charge at her and swing a lead rope at her chest backing her up and she will move out of my way and stop it. She has not bitten me in quite awhile probly a year since I laid into her the last time. Good Luck

  9. AsilArab, I had a bolter too it's funny that qheventer mentioned about the Arab breeds I do have a Egypt/Bask gelding which some of you may remember me last spring on here..... anyways this is all good advice that they are giving but listen to your trainer he is the one ridding your horse he is the one you are paying to do so so listen to what he has to say about the bolting issue and from there work with your horse with the de-spooking. My trainer said the same thing to me get rid of him someone will get hurt or killed my guy would run into things too when he bolted and when you tried to do the one rein stop he would wipe out falling on you it shook up the trainer pretty bad, also I found it to be mostly "MY" fault with some of the bolting issue my gelding is very sensitive to leg pressure so when he bolted I held on with squeezing my legs just to stay on him and realized it was making him go faster hince the "clue" for speed is leg pressure........ Also the more you get out on trail and expose him to different things the more de-spooked he will be. My guy tried to bolt on a trail he did a full body shake I thought it was funny and started to laugh well it set him off he bolted up the hill I stayed clam using the WOW command and saying EASY and he stoped 4 feet before a cactus and 30 feet down a hill/mountain WHEW! but I stayed calm that is the most important thing and with Arabians you can't "run it out of them" Qtr horses you can but with Arabs when they get hot they keep on going well at least with mine they do. Just remember to stay calm and reasure your guy it's OK nothing to worry about and calm him down that way. This is what has worked for me good luck. Heather p.s. my little bolter has not bolted in 4 months and he is my favorite to trail ride with.

  11. selling a horse .. cash on delivery

This is my motto "no tickie no washie" I just sold one of my horses today and I will deliver him on Friday because of work etc. but I got paid in full $$CASH$$ no M/O or C/Checks plain old greenbacks. I would at least collect 20% non-refundable my gosh gas is $3.00 per gallon plus wear/tear on your truck and trailer or have them come out and pick up your guy. Just my 2 cents
