  1. Goodbye Legend (Pics Up Now)

I'd also like to add, Legend is beautiful
  2. Goodbye Legend (Pics Up Now)

I'm so sorry I had to put down my beloved mare and namesake, Frisbee, about a year and a half ago. It was the first horse I've had to put down. I was there with her and as sad and hard as it was, I needed to be there with her. I would have never forgiven myself if I wasn't. My mom and sister chose not to be there, and they don't regret that decision either. But I am the kind of person that needs closure. If you feel you should be there then please do it. I wouldn't want you to regret your decision or feel guilty. It is a very difficult thing and I still think about her nearly everyday and miss her so much. I'll never have another horse like her. But the thought that I was the last person she saw, last voice she heard...makes me feel a whole lot better - and I'm sure it made her feel a whole lot better, too. I hope I helped, I will keep you in my thoughts He will be in a much better place soon enough, with an endless supply of hay and treats
  3. Dealing With Rain Rot And Kicking...

Thank you all for your replies! The rain rot has gotten much better and is finally starting to heal. Willy ShoMaker- it is just to the right of his flanks. I stand next to his shoulder and reach over to avoid him if he does kick. And yes, I used my voice in a corrective manner when he started lifting his leg. gaitinalong- I understand that it hurts him and I understand that is why he was getting upset. I already stated that I was (and still am) VERY gentle with it because I KNOW that it is sensitive. We did not have a choice but to touch it and deal with it because it was starting to get out of hand and spread. I also realize that he needs retraining because kicking is not acceptable and that has already begun. Thank you for your input.
  4. Dealing With Rain Rot And Kicking...

Thank you ALL for your input and suggestions. It is much appreciated! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this- I have been really busy. Not only has Picasso's attitude gotten better but his rain rot as well. He is being much more tolerant and we are starting to get him back into "work mode". gaitinalong - I double posted because I was not sure which category it fit under...so I just posted it in both.. I apologize if that bothers you.
  5. Dealing With Rain Rot And Kicking...

He is pinning his ears and picking his foot up like he's going to kick. My sister helps me with it. Its gotten down to me holding him and her touching it and doing what needs to be done with it because he is a lot better about it with her (he still wants to kick though); but she also isn't as scared as I am and I know that probably has a lot to do with it. We've had him since he was 6 weeks old and he's now almost 8. Although I've had a history of being scared of him, him and I both have gotten A LOT better; but I will definitely try what you suggested. I don't want my sister to be the only one that can handle him when it comes to issues like this I was not aware that you could use Listerine to treat rain rot! I will look into it for sure, as it is getting worse and spreading. Thank you for your response!
  6. My horse has a semi-bad case of rain rot on his rump (that's a whole other issue). I'm working on treating it (I know how to treat it), but he is getting so irritated with me touching it that he tries/threatens to kick me when I get near it. At this point we are scrubbing it with the benadine scrub/solution and all that jazz to soften up the scabs, and he doesn't like that AT ALL. I'm getting worried about actually picking the scabs off because I'm scared I'll get kicked. He is usually pretty laid back (NOT a kicker). I feel really bad because I know that it is sensitive and hurting him (I am VERY gentle with it- and he still gets upset) but I don't want to put up with his attitude about it. My problem is, I don't know HOW to deal with it or HOW to punish him for it because I KNOW it is unacceptable behavior. How can I treat his rain rot without getting hurt and letting him know I'm not afraid of him? PLEASE HELP!! Thank you in advance

  9. Tomorrow

It will be seven years ago tomorrow that I first joined the Horsecity bulletin boards! I can't believe it has been that long ago already, I was only 12 years old when I joined. I'm more of a lurker, but I try to post here and there. Anyone else's HC anniversary coming up?
  10. Ghost Stories?

ugh I should not read these at night(or at all really lol)! They really scare me. I can't help but read them though haha
  11. Meet...

Congrats, Saudimack! I too was an admirer of Cowboy way back when. He turned out to be really pretty! I'm sure he'll turn out great He has such a kind eye. I remember reading this too, I believe she updated fairly recently (within the last year?) and said she sold him to someone who said he drowned in a river?
  12. Have you seen Avatar? I thought it was amazing, its definitely my new favorite movie. And I'm not into sci-fi at all!
  13. Diva And Phoenix

Diva and Phoenix both have the CUTEST little heads!!
  14. Macbook Air

I agree with all of the above posters. Macbook airs also don't have disc drives. I don't know about you, but that would bother me/is a necessity for me. I also agree with the once you go mac, you never go back! I LOVE my macbook!
