Beautiful pics as always! I see snow though, looks to be getting cold. Guess I should be happy it's only raining here right now.

Great pictures! I love them, thanks for sharing.

I'm jealous too! I wish I had a barn like that, you must have some very happy horses.

I right there with you too. A week ago it was 60 and we had bare ground. Now, it's 30 and we have a foot of snow. I'm getting pretty depressed too.

Aww! She looks so comfy. What a nice owner she has to make her a bed. I think she appreciates it.

I'm with ya! I hate putting them in, I always' end up putting loads of sand in their paddock and sending them out for a little while. We were supposed to be getting a nasty freezing rain storm today too...luckily I haven't seen any yet! I'll be hoping yours stops soon and mine never comes.

Great job helping your friend! I also have to third that lunging question. Why do feel that is so important for muscle building? You don't really want to lunge a young horse too much, circles are hard on their joints. Anyway, good job with your friend.

I agree with everyone else, add some salt to his grain and/or flavor to his water (gatorade, molasses, etc). As some also suggested, getting him a heated or insulated bucket might help. One of my horse's will not bother to break through ice to get to his water. He will just wait until I fill it fresh in the morning and not drink all night. I try to keep his bucket full with fresh warm water all day and fill it again right before I finish with him at night. He drinks enough during the day and will break the ice is he is thirsty enough. Some horses just don't like to deal with the ice, I would just keep an eye on him and I'm sure he will be fine. Also, I would suggest giving him warm water instead of cold in the winter months. My horses drink much more when it's warm then if I give them cold. Good luck, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep a good eye on him. Hope I was of some help.
