  1. Banamine vs Bute

There are bute-substitutions made with herbs. But I'm not sure if it would be strong enough(for i've never tried it), for whatever reason your horse would be on this kind of medication for this long anyways. After I was finished I read this post, hah. quote: For that length of time I would try something else that has the same effects as bute, but is easier on their system. Like DAC herbal respond Ditto

  5. horse throwing his head

Are you talking about a loose ring snaffle that she has her horse in? If so, the horse might need bit guards (if it doesn't already). Maybe that's why the horse is tossing it's head? Just a thought.

  7. Apple Cider Vinegar as a preventative?

I hope you don't mind me asking a question. How much of it should you feed?

  9. Calling the vet out worthy? Opinions?

I might get a massager person out. And see if that helps. I've been riding her alot lately, even when she was lame alot, because when she moves she feels alot better. She's in shape and doesn't get over-worked(believe mee). Ovarian cysts would be something to think about too. Hmm

The saddle fits really good, and she's not green broke. She got caught in barbed wire..two/three years ago I think, and got sliced really badly across her coronary band. I can't remember what went wrong, but something about the injury rupturing inside of the leg I believe. She went lame last year. She's developing navicular as well, but she's just dandy right now. Later on (a year or so from now, possibly) we need to get the vet out again for that. She also has arthritis, and she's getting the real adequan. 13. Calling the vet out worthy? Opinions?

Gah, I've FINALLY gotten my mare sound and stuff, but I rode her today and she really didn't want to extend and such. After I got a crop and didn't think anything of it, a while later I asked her to canter. We were even going her good way, and she threw a HUGE buck. She hasn't done that since..last year. The others have been little tiny baby bucks because she didn't want to go away from the barn, etc. She's in heat, and could just be moody and not wanting to do it? This arena is tiny as well, and maybe I shouldn't be riding her in it because of her hoof issues(problems with corners?). I know her legs feel fine, because she would definently tell me by limping. But she was sound as could be. Same on monday. I'm going to feel around on her back(again, I always check) and see if she's tender in any spots. I need to make sure that I actually need the vet out, because we're tight with money right now. Any other ideas/opinions?

  15. Dealing with Pink Skin and Blue Eyes

Ahh, I know exactly what you're dealing with. I have a paint mare with a bald face, and of course, a blue eye. She was left out in the pasture to fry for 2-3 years. The hair still hasn't grown back after a year. If you don't like the "dent", then i'd suggest using a long flymask. I don't get the dent thing with those. (Cashel long flymask, to be exact) You say that he's flaky on his leg, it might be a fungus. My mare has a white sock, and the grass was really tall outside. Someone said it was a photosynthesis with the dew or something. I'm not sure if that's what it is with him, though. If it is, someone said about peeling that flaky stuff off and putting some diaper rash cream on it. Someone correct me if i'm wrong on this one.
