  6. our year so far...

so this year we have decided to just show the Iowa paint shows and some open shows, so i could bring my quarter horse mare along to run games. although that didn't last long because she passed away on June 15 of an aneurysm. but Scooter and i have been doing amazing this year. memorial weekend we won the circuit award for the 14 - 18 horsemanship and the all around 14 - 18. we have 89 points in four shows. this past weekend we entered the barrels, stake, and poles just for fun. we found out we have quite the game horse on our hands. we won the barrels and stake race. and took it easy in the poles. we came home with out first four barrel points and our first two stake points. everyone at the show was calling him "the super horse." these people have known Scooter as long as we have been showing APHA since 2004. and he truly is my super horse! i have my win picture from memorial weekend and mine and my sisters casual pictures but our scanner isn't working so they will be posted later. but here are some of our pictures this year... me & Scooter. memorial weekend. memorial weekend again. fun classes at the Waterloo paint show. we won the boot race! open show. Marah & Romeo. Scooter, me, & Cash. Romeo was reserve champion pleasure horse. Scooter was grand champion halter and pleasure horse. Cash was second in the youth and jackpot barrels. last picture with Cash. only two weeks before her accident. me & Misty! our first pony we purchased in 1999. took her just for fun for halter. Scooter at the 4th of July show. egg & spoon July 4th! we won! it was the longest egg & spoon class ever! it came down to me & one other girl. we even won the egg & spoon class at the paint show this past weekend! July 4th. grand champion halter horse. high point performance horse. all around champion.

  11. Pinto World Show results & saddle pics

congrats! i went to pinto world in 2004 and will be returning next year hoping to bring a barrel horse, if i get one in time, along with Scooter. do you know of any paint barrel horses for sale? my quarter horse mare recently passed away.
  12. Showing western pleasure with a long mane?

I show APHA. I have seen maybe three horses with long manes in the pleasure classes. One horse shows around here and was a very nice mare and held her own. Scott Suggs showed a two year old at the world a couple years ago with a long mane and if I remember correctly he was in the top five. You will stick out and if you are just starting I would say cut it. You can always grow it back out.

  14. What to expect?

Illinois is the best i've seen for breeding stocks. i have shown there a few times and we even considered taking my breeding stock gelding but then sold him. i show at all the Iowa Paint Horse Club Shows (www.iowapainthorseclub.com). Iowa is all we are showing this year because we are moving and just really want a break.
