  1. HELP!!! my horse is trying to kill my boarders horse!

My gelding is good with some horses and bad with others - doesn't matter which sex. Actually, he may harass mares more than geldings. Anyway, he was put in a dry lot by himself (due to suspected IR) in-between three pastures where he could see and interact with other horses and he got along just fine. He had a goose and a flock of sheep that would pass through for companionship. When I moved my mare to the farm, she was put in with him and they seem to get along. However, the goose is depressed because he doesn't have his horse to himself. The bottom line is, if your horse wants to attack other horses, he'll probably be psychologically okay by himself, as long as he can see other horses and doesn't feel too isolated.

  3. Need a rider for my pony, what to pay?

Get liability insurance. I had it before I had anybody else riding my horses - in case the horses might get out and cause an automobile accident. etc.
  4. So what are we going to do when we use up all the offshore oil and oil in Alaska? And the oil in Alaska gets shipped to Asia anyway. We have to find alternative fuel sources and get mass transit going, not drill for more oil in this country. Save what we have left for when the rest of the world runs out.
  5. Need a rider for my pony, what to pay?

I pay $10 a ride. I'd probably pay more if I had to. The girls already work at the stable, so they aren't making a special trip out there.
  6. I am so happy right now!!

I'm so happy for you! Hopefully you will receive nothing but good news from now on.

  8. A different kind of tomato. (PICS)

The last one (the cocoon one) looks kind of like a tomatillo.
  9. Girth Rub

A while back, someone was complaining about neoprene girths causing bad rubs. I have always used neoprene girths and have never had a problem - until now! I have ridden my gelding in neoprene girths the entire time I have owned him - more than 7 years. The same with my mare - except I haven't had her as long (she's only 5). This past weekend I went out to ride and found horrible raw spots from a neoprene girth on my gelding. The girl who used to exercise my horses has moved and the barn owner was trying out someone new as an "exerciser." The only difference was that this girl rode in a western saddle (I only ride English or in "endurance" type saddles) and of course, the neoprene girth wasn't the same one as I use. Why would there be a problem now? Is there some reason that western rigging would rub, but English wouldn't?
  10. If Pres Bush Was A Horse....

Actually, he'd only be part of a horse - you guess which part!
  11. Pictures - Driving an Icelandic

What a way to save money on gas!
  12. Generally, but not always, the angle of the pasterns parallels the angle of the shoulder.
  13. NHR, Sick Dog, Please Help!

Yeah, being a puppy he could have eaten a non-edible item and have an intestinal blockage. Have her get him to a vet. I love Bostons and hate to hear of a sick one.
