.... Hello.... Duh..... Horses are my intrest.
  1. Horses having fun in the snow.

awww! so cute! i love the pony, he/she is adorable.
  2. Settle debate Bucked vs Falling ...your view

I think that if three or more feet are a foot or higher in the air when you loose your seat, youve been thrown. if the horse just dodged or did a 180 or something, you need to learn to stick with a horse better. ha ha. personally though, i dont think it makes any differance whether you were thrown or if you fell. anyway, you havent really been riding that day if you havent fallen off at least once..lol
  3. Trail riding and cell phone use

I have been known to use a cell phone on the trail from time to time, b/c the group i ride with rides incredibly slow and stops all the time for like 30 minutes at a time. i mean literally they will ride 100 yards stop for 20 minutes, ride another 100 yards. its incredibly boring. so if i dont have a friend that will ride ahead with me, i take a cell phone so ill have something to do on those multiple, 20min. breaks. also, it never fails that i get a call about a horse or saddle for sale while im on the trail... it gets annoying really... {edited to say} I also stay pretty far away from the group when i talk on the phone, that way i dont bother everyone. and i dont stay on the whole time. i just amke a few short calls when im bored out of my mind just standing there. 4. I was just wondering how you all like your trail horses? Fast or Slow? Gaited Or Nongaited? Big Or Small? Hyper Or Calm? Crazy-Brave Or Careful and Causious? I like'em fast, nongaited, and crazy-brave... what about you?

aww cute horse! looks like a sweety have fun!
  7. trail rides

we usually have about 5 hour trails for the normal ones and for the long ones, 9 or 10 (those hurt ... ouch!). for my senior trip, some freinds of mine and i are planning to take the horses down to the grasslands in texas and take some pack mules and go camp out for a week or two, should be helaciously fun, cant wait.
  8. Is Winter Riding Really Safe?

Thanks guys I dont pull shoes in the winter becasue it doesnt snow all that much here and we ride when it doesnt, ill just have pads put on the horses feet and vasalene (sp?) them. Quarter sheet sounds like a good investment, ill look into it. Would wrapping his legs help with the cold, as long as its not a deep snow? Thanks you guys, Happy Trails!
  9. o god my horse is dead

ow. i am so sorry. i know how you feel, ive lost two horses suddenly and its terrible. I cut a lock from their tails adn make a hat band out of it. or braid it up and us it for a bookmark, things like that, it helps.

  13. Got a new horse.

Hi everyone, Ive decided to switch to this board because trail riding is all i do anyway. lol it makes sense. Anyway, I got a new horse! yay. Hes a five year old 15 hh paint who has been a stallion all his life but has now been deprived of his manhood. HE Says, "no i wont let you take them, ill never look at another mare again!... *sees mare* hey good looking. how you doin?" any way, ill shut up now. Im going to make a website for him so you can see pictures. happy trails
  14. first trail ride by myself

That is my favorite Thing in the world to do, I love riding by myself. you see, i am a writer (short stories and novels) and when i get stuck on a story, i just saddle up, put pen and paper in my saddle bags and take off, and it always helps. The Hushed serenity of the woods and the horse's steady pace and breathing really takes away the worries of the rest of the world and lets my mind relax enough to write. If and when i get published, every story is going to be dedicated soaly to my horse. Happy Trails
  15. Just a trail horse - Vent

I totally Agree With all tghe above. I ride trails and when we ride we RIDE! I have lots of freinds with performance horses and they cant keep up, they cant handle it. And My ''MEAR TRAIL HORSE'' ( ) handles it day after day like a champion. And When i say 'we RIDE!' i mean the only time our horses walk is a few minutes of recouperation betweensome of the toughest terrain we can find. I dont know about you but, id like to see some of thoseperformance horses come out and to what our horses do, with half as much class, control, and style.
