  1. Poll Flexation Problem, Won't Move Feet Now

After attending a WONDERFUL Centered Riding Clinic this past weekend - found better words to say this. Instead of Poll Flex or Poll Break - how about using back lifting. Sounds better and with a proper lift in the back, using those powerful hindquarters, you will def. get proper back lifting and an automatic, correct carriage of head/neck.
  2. Show Results W/pics

Has anyone ever heard of TTOUCH??? The IET is a bit "much" - but TTOUCH is hands-on and real. I'm a firm Christian and believe in God and such - but after reading on the IET website, lots of hookie "stuff". I'll stick with my Centered Riding and TTOUCH.
  3. What's So Bad About A Black Saddle?

all I say COUNTY EVENTER - LOVE IT - only saddle I can ride in with my messed up back. I will always ride in a County from now on. I show locally in hunters and have always placed - riding my home-grown APHA breeding stock chestnut mare. If you ride well, clean turn out - you should place - breed of horse and color of tack shouldn't be a deciding factor. If a judge marks you down for black colored tack - SHAME ON THEM. I hav seen lots of black tack while watching local fox hunters too. With my County Eventer - heck, maybe with my new dessage horse I'll cross over to eventing! lol crazy in my old age...
  4. Which website to sale my horses???

Due to a layoff at my job I need to sell my 2 horese ASAP. I would like everyones opinion which 2 sites I should post them on. They have both shown local hunter shows and my mare is a good pony club prospect and both also ride western. Sooo....which two sites would I best spend my money and get a good deal of prospective buyers??? Thanks...
  5. Pics of new mare!

Hey - saw the From Kansas - ME TOO! Where are you?? nice mare too. I just love mares - always have, always will....
  6. update with pics!

Have you had her checked for tumors on her ovaries? My friends mare was "witchy" and it was small tumors. Removed and she's much happier now! Just and FYI...
  7. Is my foal turning black??

Well I've got a APHA breeding stock mare - dark chestnut w/black "splotches" over her hind quarters. I've been told it's the TB trait in her dam's line?? Of course this breeding stock is out of a bay tobiano mare and a splashy sorrel overo (looks just like Hidalgo's horse) - and she's got almost black mane and tail (have had people call her a bay!?!) and interspersed white, sorrel and mostly black hairs in mane and tail. Body color - dark chestnut with those black splotchy marks. Has a small "crown" on right fore and 1/2 sock on left hind. And a long diamond shaped blaze. And she's really "dappled" this year too. Must be all the rain we received this Spring - nice pastures! Now figure that color combo out!! lol
  8. Need a fresh eye, what do you see wrong here?

I don't know the history of this guy but I agree - PRETTY!! My big guy (appendix) had shoulders issues when I got him. My trainer said it was because he wasn't balanced with himself. Lots of TTOUCH and Centered Riding for both of us and after a year - it's coming together. Maybe focus on the flat instead of putting any type of jumps in front of him until he's got the flat down 100%. Why rush a good thing - he'll be beautiful once it all comes together. I'm such a sucker for paints!! Oh - and the history of him would be nice of us sometimes-lurkers...I love to have one just like him...
  9. Strangles question

I had the "pleasure" of dealing w/strangles last year on 2 of mine. They never had a temp!!! but they did have the enlarged lower lymph nodes. One was worse than the others. NEVER had snotty noses either! But the gross-ness of the open, oozing, *****, goopy, gaping holes under their jaws was the most disgusting thing I've dealt with in quite some time. That alone gets all over everything. No way not too as it drains for the swelling to go away. Also - if they were exposed to strangles prior to the vac's - getting the vac's now isn't going to help them! AND - tons of different types of strangle's too. The vet would have to know exactly what type broke out to vac. any new horses from it. GROSS - just plain gross!!
  10. Dressage 101 - Help my daughter, please!

You don't need a warmblood or TB to do english. But, if you show AQHA or APHA, it is different than open english shows. Just attend some shows around you to figure out what's interesting to your daughter and yourself. I have 2 appendix now and they can do any "english" sport. Especially eventing - lots of different breds are in eventing. I don't show "A" circuit but the local "C" open shows -quite a mix from ponies, to quarters to tb's or warmbloods (registered and unregistered horses) - great learning environment.
  11. Do you have experience with Indian Artifact line of AQHA-appendix??

Anyone else out there w/Indian Artifacts horses???

  13. Linda Tellington-Jones

My trainer is certified in TTOUCH/TEAM and also Centered Riding. Those 2 have helped me and my horses so very, very much. I have a pinched nerve in my back from a car wreck (siatic nerve <-- have no idea how to spell it - the main nerve down the left leg!!) and I could not ride w/o pain. Heck, I walked and sat in pain! But with the TTOUCH and Centered Riding - I ride lots and lots now. When truly used by certified instructor - I PUT MY LIFE AND MY HORSES LIFE ON IT!!! And TTOUCH on animals is amazing to actually watch the transformation take place. I have TTOUCH and massage therapy done to my 4-legged babes.

  15. opinions on county dressage saddles

LOVE County and only ride in County (eventer tho 17.5 MW #3 fit). Eventually I'll get a dressage but not until me and my gelding move up and it's more required to have it. I watch eBay ALL THE TIME (as I have a Favorite/County saved!!) - sometimes County saddles sell well but most of the time people see it as USED and don't want to pay what County's are worth. I live in the midwest and County's are not that prevalant here. My instructor turned me on to County. Have a rep that visits ONCE A YEAR but when he comes - we all meet up to have the saddles looked over, reflocked, etc... Maybe you could take it to a tack store as a resell - I just know around here they're rare....sorry no help, if I had money we'd be a talking!!! lol
