You and your horses are such a georgous team! <3
  6. Hello. =) Right now, I'm using my starter saddle, it's an all purpose saddle with a deep seat, and it's making it more difficult for me to jump. It's a size 17, but I just outgrew it a little. I want to order a Kincade Close Contact Saddle online, but don't know how to get my size, how do I go about doing that? Also, I show an Appendix Quarter Horse, and have ridden in that saddle, and I jumped much better in it, and there was no pinching or anything. So, two questions: a) how do I get my saddle size? should I get this saddle? My parents said that I can get a saddle for up to $400. I'm sure that if it was a little higher it'd be okay .. but I'm happy with the kincade and unless anyone objects to it, I'm going to go for it... THANKS GUYS! =)

  9. Division Decision

Thanks! I never thought of switching mid year .. pleasure in my shows happens to have a fouth class where you have to line up and jump two small crossrails, so it is SOME jumping .. .. and they DO allow you to cross enter into a real jumping division and pleasure - I didn't realize that I could add it on mid year, keep getting points in pleasure, and also do some classes in the other division for practice. Thanks so much for the advice!
  10. Division Decision

I really appreciate the feedback. She’s turning five and is 16.2 and is a half hand appendix qh, mostly tb, though, but she’s not worked with often, and is a bit of a klutz. I’ve schooled her over about 2’6”, and small oxers, but she goes over them in slow motion, but we mostly just do small crossrails and verticals, nothing much over two feet, usually, and she always wants to get too close to the jumps. She won’t jump at the right time unless you really push her to, and even then, you have to really ask her to lift or she’ll just jump through it. I’ve been getting pressure from a friend at a barn to do a division that my trainer and I don’t think that she’s ready for, with courses and lead changes, and we’re still working on her stamina and getting her to do a flying lead change without getting hung up in the back, or bucking into it. As a rider, my next step would be the jumps anywhere under 2’ division, but I’m listening to your advice, and my trainer’s advice, and I know that you guys know a lot more than the friend who rides a well seasoned hunter who makes any rider look good, and doesn’t realize that my mare isn’t going to be ready, and it’ll be a huge stretch. I really appreciate you reminding me that she’s green, and that one more year in pleasure may just be what she needs, and that it’s better not to ruin her, when we can always just jump at home… Thank you so much, if anyone has some more advice about why I shouldn’t push the green horse too fast, please keep it coming – I really need to have those thoughts running through my head…
  11. Division Decision

Lat year was my first year showing. I do one small, unrated circuit, but it's my life. I won year end, and it was really fun. This year, my grand champion gelding's show days are over. So, I've deicided to ride a green mare instead. She has a lot of jumping potential, and I want to show over more than the crossrails that I did last year, but she's still learning to time her jumps, and lift over them, and she's not going to be ready by show season. We'd have a lot better chances in the pleasure division, but I'd really miss those jump courses at the shows. So, if you were me, only able to do one division, and your seven shows a year meant a lot to you, and that one little division would become your life, what would you do: show in the crowded under 2' jumping division, and probably knock down the jumps once in a while, and not do too well, but gain experiance, or show in pleasure, do well, and still school over jumps at home? Thanks. I tried to keep it as short as posible, but I left out a lot of details.
  12. breeches vs. underwear lines

I just wear regular underwear, because it's important to be comfertable - and my jacket's a little big so it covers my butt for the most part, besides when I two-point, and then, my butt's not what he should be foucusing on... =)
