  1. Saddle Fit

I have 12 days left of the trial for this saddle. How well do you think it fits? If it doesn't fit, I would like a detailed explanation why so I can find a better fitting saddle and know what to look for next time. Please keep in mind, I pulled the saddle pad UP against the gullet when I saddled him. I can fit two fingers between the pad and the gullet while I'm on his back. The photos are a little decieving. I'm also looking for a saddle fitter in the TN area, or someone who is really good with photos online, I don't mind paying. Thanks!
  2. Anyone have any good websites? I'm keeping an eye on craigslist and tacktrader.. onlinesaddles.com is out of the question... I'm looking at western saddles under $600. Used, name brand 15". Not looking for a barrel or WP saddle.. More reining/trail/all purpose. Any help would be great!
  3. Make Your Own Chaps?

I *sorta* made myself a pair. I bought a pair that was WAY to big for me at the flea market for $2 (yes, two dollars) cut the bottoms off, cut the zippers off, cut the fringe off. Added a piece of light colored pigskin to the bottom, fringed that and added some buckles and straps, replaced the buckle at the top and wha-la! I just bought a chaps book from tandy for $5 (I have dealer pricing, so I'm not sure how much it normally is, probably less than $10) I have about 6 hides of pigskin I have no idea what to do with it, so I'm going to start making some chaps/chinks. It's pretty easy!
  4. Getting Into Leather Crafting

Pretty! I've started doing leatherwork lately too! It's so much fun. Snaps scared me too for awhile... My first belt I put them on backwards, man on man that looked funny.
  5. Does Your Western Saddle Fit Just Right?

I've been having the same problem too... I'm about to buy a new saddle, I just bought one back in the spring, and it doesn't fit my gelding. I've tried different pads, moving the saddle back, etc and I still get dry spots behind the shoulder blades. *sigh*
  6. Feeding Aloe Vera

This thread has some good info. I think I will buy some AV and Knox gelatin for my mare and colt. Colt is 3 not a baby :)
  7. Horse Trailers

*laughs* I've only ever washed the outside of my trailer once and that was on one side. Not worth the effort, LOL.... Have fun.
  8. Hey, I need some help. I want to feed one of these. I don't feed grain, just beet pulp and hay. They need their vitamins and everything. There's been some discussion about which one is better. I know one girl things the Performance is better because there's a lot more amino acids. What are your opinions? I would like to feed a ration balancer, but I can't buy any where I'm located. http://www.smartpakequine.com/productclass...fulldescription http://www.smartpakequine.com/ProductClass...fulldescription Thanks!
  9. Riding When You're In A Bad Mood...

It depends on how angry/upset I am. A lot of time it can be calming. Just go for a nice slow trail ride. If I'm really mad, then usually that means I take it out on the horse. Its been a couple years since I've done that (I'm 15 now, I was like 11 and 12..) Yes and no.
  10. Another Clothes Question

Sparkly is good. Lots of silver (jewlry, belt buckle, saddle/bridle). You really can't just wear a "nice" western shirt. Like a "cowboy" shirt. Button-up show shirts. A slinky and a vest looks good. Chaps and a hat. Look it up google images.
  11. I need to find a swiveling curb bit. The cheek peice needs to swivel. Kind of like a gag-bit. http://www.nationalbridle.com/product-p/1-3387.htm The bit there is very close to what I'm wanting. I need more links to see what else is out there. Thanks! BTW, I'll be out of town until Sunday.
  12. Tennessee buds!!

I'm from TN! I'm right between Chattanooga and Nashville. I live on the mountain. I love it! Lots of woods, trail, etc. Just a lot of rednecks around here. NOT a good thing! Other than that its great here!
  13. What do you want to be when you grow up?

ATM I'm leaning toward an Equine vet. Don't know what my specialty would be. Probably surgery/lameness. I like alternitive stuff. Intenet/web work Photoshop work Forensic/autopsy (sp) Lawyer Yes, my interests vary greatly. The thing is, with photoshop work (and some web work) I wouldn't have to go to college/it could support my in college/while I have kids. I can already do it! (I'm 14). I think I'd make a good vet. I don't get grossed out easily, and when I am, I can deal with it. Had to go "down there" on my new colt. Yuck!

  15. Question for gaited horse owners

Yes, some horses you DO have to work alot harder to get/maintain the gait. The lady I bought my mare from (we're really close friends) she has two horses that do nothing but gait. Mine you have to work with. Get her collected and she's all on! I ride mine (usually) in a o-ring snaffle. For showing (I get more collection and better movement) from a shanked bit. "Walking horse bit".
