  1. what to do about hooves?

It just depends on how desparate you are...You have two horses that evedently need some hoof care. One hasn't 1 1/2 yrs and one 3 ys with out. I'd say if I was a farrier and had enough regular clients, regularly handled horses that didn't cause me problems...WHY would I want to take on yours when I know you probably wont ever call me again?...not to mention..they are probably hard to do and maybe even dangerous...yes, it's dangerous anyways...as you stated. Sounds to me like you either need to load them up and take them to a farrier or learn to do them yourself...get Pete Rameys book and buy some "good" nippers and just take off the cracking edges...and rasp it smooth and level. It's really not that hard..just don't take too much off at a time. I am 44 and have been doing it for over 20 yr's and believe me you will learn as you go. Good Luck...Google Pete Ramey...you might get some useful info off internet. SMILES!! [ 06-18-2007, 02:09 PM: Message edited by: black horse ]

  11. Serious Leg Injury ( HELP! )

I would load her up and take her to the nearest University Vet. school as soon as I could get a referral, they have the most updated equipment, best Doctors and they will be able to properly diagnose and treat her, in most cases, they are cheaper than a reg. home town vet, making the trip worth it. This sounds very serious, and to delay may cause permanent damage or worse. Good luck!
