  6. COLIC HELP!

Hello, First, I have read that giving mineral oil with out having a vet pump it directly into the stomach of the horse is dangerous. As for walking, its ok to walk them to get their mind off the pain, however to much walking can just lead to exhaustion. Its ok to let your horse lay down, as long as they are not rolling. They could kick and twist their intestines, which is usually fatal. Banamine, which your vet can prescribe, is a pain killer and allows the horse to be less painful until the colic episode is over. I would also take your horses temperature, 99 is usually typical. Depending on what type of colic it is, it can last for a few days. I would keep your vet informed day about their condition so that he/she will be able to assess the situation. Good luck with your horses.

  10. shoe falling off- picture- Help????

Hello, I just purchased a horse who has shoes on the front. My horses have always been barefoot so I am not to familiar with shoes. Anyway, I noticed one of his shoes was loose the other day, so I called my Farrier. That was two days ago and he hasnt called back (ug. Farriers.. a whole different issue) Anyway, now one of the nails has fallen out of the shoes. I have a call in to another farrier but he hasnt called back. Should I leave it on, or attempt to get if off myself????? or???? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Pic: [ 09-21-2006, 07:29 PM: Message edited by: twohottblueshoes ]

  12. Coolest freestyle ever *video*

Maybe... She may not have had enough time to feel completely comfortable with the horses movement. Sometimes after I watch video's like this, I wish I could actually talk to the rider and get their personal critique of themselves and the test.. I think it would be interesting to hear what they have to say.
  13. Coolest freestyle ever *video*

Bend N: Some riders are just enjoyable and relaxing to watch. This rider was not. I think its becuase she looked a little sloppy and she didnt move as fluidly with the horse as well as some do. The horse and rider should be one, and I felt like she was stuggling to "catch up" with him, if you will, the horse def. won for her. Im sure she is a great rider, maybe it wasnt her day. I just watched it again! Wow that horse is awesome! I agree... Needs a little more head room though. [ 09-19-2006, 01:49 PM: Message edited by: twohottblueshoes ]
