  1. Grown Ups..i Need Some Advice

Go to school! Trust me on this one. The longer you are out of school, the harder it is to start college. And if you are interested in travel, then studying abroad for a semester or so would be perfect. Even if your college doesn't offer programs, find the program of another school and ask your college if you can attend (from personal experience, it definitely works). And you shouldn't be afraid to give up friends, parties, etc. Sure, they distract you from school, but you will find so many new friends and opportunities through college. I would, however, really look at the program you want to pick up and make sure it's worth your while. I taught myself HTML years ago and when I tell that to kids in school for design, they laugh at me. HTML is a dinosaur. Everyone is more into Dreamweaver, Flash, etc. now. Just be sure you will be learning skills that will be applicable. Whoever said high school is the best four years of your life never went to college.
  2. Anyone Familiar With Travel In Germany

Thanks very much, everyone! (And thanks for pardoning my horrid grammar mistakes in my first rushed post). I will be in the center of Berlin and I will have to look up the train. I just hope my passport gets here. If it does, I will have plenty of pictures for you all! ETA: What airline did you fly with; what did you think of it? I was planning to go BMI but I hear it is very strict with baggage and charges lots of fees.
  3. Assuming I can get my passport expedited, I will be traveling into Tegel Airport next month. A few quick questions I have: 1.) I hear Tegel is huge; how hard is it to navigate? Particularly, how hard is it to pick up a public bus (and buy a bus pass)? 2.) Are there any Deutsche Bank ATMs in Tegel? I hear they are popular in Berlin but I don't know if they are in the airport. Thank you!
  4. Parents Of Food Picky Children

Okay, I haven't read through all of the comments, but I am replying as a girl whose parents let her eat whatever. I went through life as an over-weight child, woke myself up as a teenager, started eating right, lost a ton of weight, struggled with eating disorders, and will never be totally fine with food. So I say, MAKE her eat what she should. Put it on her plate. If she doesn't want it, she won't eat it. She'll get hungry. Sit down and have a rational conversation explaining why it's important to eat a balance of healthy foods --- she's old enough to understand. And she may hate them now, but someday, she will thank them. Best of luck.
  5. Anyone With Riding-confidence Issues . . .

dg, yep! The article is actually a "How To" piece on how to overcome riding fears. I am just looking to interview people in all stages of that process.

Thanks for the advice; I cross-posted!
  11. Want to be interviewed? Hey, everyone! As a student at a pretty rebutable writing college in New England, I'm taking a course in Magazine Writing this semester. Our first project is a service piece, one that gives the public some advice to make life a little better. Of course, I want to give it an equestrian spin and write about how to overcome fear issues when riding. I'd be so grateful to hear from anyone who has ever been afraid to ride. I'd love to hear from riders who are just returning from a break, older riders, trainers, competitors, anybody! If you're interested, please reply and I'll give you my email address. I obviously have to write this as a serious and professional piece that would be worthy of publication, and someday someone might just want to pick it up. This might be a cool way to see your name in print. Thanks so much!

  13. Are there any equine insurance companies out there that you know of that will offer Med/Surg coverage to a horse whose value is less than $2500? I realize from a financial standpoint, if a horse is worth less than that it's probably cheaper for the insurance company to just pay Mortality out, but I wanted to check. Thank you!
  14. On The Verge Of Tears..

Is there a reason he'd ask for your mom? Not to be a total freak, but maybe he just wanted to hear for voice but couldn't man up to talk to you. I've heard stories like that. Maybe he knew your mom wouldn't be there but just wanted to hear you (maybe he would have hung up if you went to give her the phone, too) . . .
