  3. show pics please look

i cant tell from the pic, but in western, with a shank bit, u cant use two hands. if the horse is 6 yrs old or younger you may use a snaffle and two hands but not with a shank bit. and sometimes shows differ on the age when you must switch them to a correct bit

  5. o dear how vets can miss things.....

ok but now, shes moving really stiff in her hind feet... could it be an infection from one of her injection sites? i kept her stall clean, but she lays down alot, because shes a big horse so she has to get off her feet... im really confused now. she wont even let me pick up her hind feet because she cant support her weight on her other foot... and she needs her feet done bad...

almost 3 years ago we took my horse to Oregon State University to their vet school because she had been lame off and on for a few months and we wanted to know what was going on. they took "navicular X-Rays" which we found out later were the wrong views... they said she was navicular, not bad but would need corrective shoeing the rest of her life and wouldn't be sound for as long as a normal horse... the rotation they saw in her navicular bone was due to swelling of the bursa which was caused by a deep, deep bruising in her hoof. we recently took her to a track vet in our area and could tell by the X-Rays they took at OSU that she had arthritis in her coffin joint- something the vets at OSU had neglected to find and/or tell us. so with a few injections in her front feet and in her hocks, shes moving 300% better and im now a happy mom!!!

  9. Conformation/Bloodline Critique =)

he most likely will because as probably all of us know horses grow like a teeter totter- grow at the hip, then even out, then be taller at the withers. hes young enough he will probably grow even more than that actually. but yes he is absolutely gorgeous, and Te n Te i know is a good bloodline for a performance horse. i feed my mare (who is 15.3 h and weighs probly 1300 lbs) horsemens edge by purina. it is kind of like the omelene feeds but instead of a 100(average horse), 200(performance horse), or 300(mare and foal) its like a 150... and i only feed her that and grass hay morning and night, with alot of riding she still bulks up and does really well in halter classes. but i ride her in sand about a foot deep too!

  11. just a few questions on reining......

hey i just got back from state! we did ok.. considering that the best reiners in the state there- we took eleventh! not too shabby for my prissy english horse! but anyways i was a little shook when i did my pattern- the girl who went before me, whom ive known for a while now, her horse slid with his foot wrong so they "think" he tore the sheath of his tendon, which i heard wasnt too serious, but he'd need like six weeks off. is this a common occurence with reiners? because he is trained very well its not like he was inexperienced

  13. Team penning and sorting

i take my performance mare sorting alot and she absolutely LOVES IT! its a good break for them and they learn to relax. its funny to see my good hunt seat horse pinning her ears back and trying to eat the cows! its a good break for me too, because its nice to get out of the showing scene for at least a day to relax!

  15. Re: Reining Outfits

i wear black breeches under my black chaps! it is way easier to zip up the legs, and the material actually helps your butt stick to the saddle! but thats what i do!
