  1. Who rides alone?

Once I start riding again I will be riding alone too. All the people I meet around here are all snobby. I love to go trail riding and most of the locals like horse shows, ride english or dressage. I am a western person myself. We all have our own thing about riding. Sometimes it is boring going alone though.
  2. lunging question

My arabian returned back from 30 days of training lame and he had time off from being worked. I have lunged him a few times and he did fine. I took a few more days off and started back to lunging him again BUT he is now stopping and facing me. How do I get him back into lunging in the circle? I don't have a round pen and I have done what the trainer has told me. I don't think its all him I feel maybe its me. I have owned him since he was 8 weeks old and this is the first horse I ever had to continue training. So its an learning exp for the both of us.
  3. Arabian back from trainers lame

My 5 1/2 year old arabian came back from the trainers lame. The farrier checked it out and said he cut his frog. I have soaked it epsom salt 3 times a day for the past 5 days. I was wondering how long does it take for a frog to heal. My farrier said it was ok to do some light lunging and keep soaking it. But this was 2 days ago. I started to lunge him a little I got him to do one complete circle and he started to limp again not real bad,but enough to notice his hoof was still bothering him. Of course my Vet is on Vacation so I thought I would come to horsecity for some advice. I noticed his frog is shedding, looks pretty good.

  5. Hi from Maine

Hi, I am from maine too. I own a 5 1/2 year old arabian gelding who just finished 30 days of training. Welcome
  6. im having problems with my arabian

I am not saying all auctions. But I have heard other people buy horses from auctions and they were calm as a kitten. Then in a few days to weeks of having them home they would become the horse from he**. Later on to find out that the horses were drugged to stay calm during an auction only so the people could sell the horse to some gullible person. This might not be problem in your case. But just a heads up on what could happen at purchasing a horse from an auction. I hope that is not the problem and good luck with your new horse.

  8. lameness question

my arabian just back from the trainers and now he is lame. I looked at the bottom of his hoof and it looks like he might have step on something and peeled it up a bit. There is no open wound, blood, pus or any other damage except like the piece of the sold lifted.like a person peeling their nail too far. There is no swelling or no heat. I am soaking it with epsom salt. I am hoping it is something the farrier can fix [ 07-26-2006, 08:39 PM: Message edited by: rainyspirit ]
