Yes, I think its well worth the money vs. cable/internet. And yes, I am binge watching Stranger Things lol...it is very easy to do and very convenient. I will check those shows out, I already have a few on my radar so to speak. And I already watch The 100 on regular tv.
  2. The Front Porch

Im actually on a free month trial right now but I will probably continue after the month is up. I chose the $12.99 plan.

You guys! Ive joined the land of the living and got a Netflix account LOL. This is a big deal for me as Im not technically inclined nor do I have internet or cable at home. But, I can download whatever I want from Netflix onto my tablet using either the wifi at the library or the wifi at work, and viola, watch it at home later without the need for internet. Yaay! So far Ive watched the whole first season of Stranger Things and just finished downloading season 2. I have tickets to a musical/parody based on Stranger Things in a few months and figured it would be a good idea to watch the series so I understand what the heck the musical/parody is about lol. What other shows on Netflix do you all suggest?
  4. The Front Porch

YES! Thats how my first 3 were/are. Im not sure that a cage would done much for all the branches! I gave 3 tomatoes to my neighbor yesterday. He was so excited. Ive got another 3 ready to pick today.
  5. The Front Porch

These werent as big as the first few, but my plants are loaded with green ones. I didnt use cages with my first 3 plants and now Im regretting it. Ive tried tying them up with yard and making supports with tree branches, but my poor plants are a mess. Theyre producing though so Ill just chalk it up as a learning experience and use cages from now on. The 2 tomato plants I bought last week are caged and growing well. Think I might buy 2 more plants tomorrow, I saw some heat tolerant plants at Southern States. Yeah, I might be a little addicted to home grown tomatoes/plants. :-)
  6. The Front Porch

Just a quick pic of some tomatoes from my garden yesterday.
  7. The Front Porch

Hmm, Ill have to keep my eyes open.
  8. The Front Porch

Actually, the landlord has a canoe that I can use. I have to look for some oars, they may actually be under the canoe, Ive never looked.
  9. The Front Porch

I think it might have been a turtle. My landlord now calls me Huckleberry Finn LOL

I was supposed to work today but got put on call, which is fine with me. Headed to the pond and wouldn't you know it, just as I was packing up to leave something jumped on my old poles line. I reeled and reeled and even pulled the line by hand and at the last minute, just as I could see my bobber, my line broke. Dannnnng iiiiiiittttt! Didnt get a look at it so not sure if it was a fish or a turtle but either way I was so close. Something in that pond has a very big hook in its mouth, Im sad to say. Of course that made me stay another hour. Burnt my knees and my shoulders, lol. Whats summer without a good sunburn though? Its lunch time now, for me anyway, but Im going back to the pond later.

Thanks for the good thoughts guys. Been fishing a lot in the past few days. About to go again here in a few minutes. I could spend an entire day fishing. I had a BIG catfish get away from me the other evening. I reeled it in all the way to the bank and just as I was about to pull it onto the grass, it broke my line and took off. Man oh man. I dont fish for anything specific, just whatever I happen to hook is fine with me. I usually catch and release, but that catfish wouldve been dinner if Id have got my hands on it.

Hey all. I had these grand plans of riding Sonic more now that the farm is manageable, but this heat and the bugs..I don't know who's more miserable. I think we'll wait for fall. Its been nasty hot, even in the early mornings. My garden is dwindling and I've had to save a few plants from the heat/sun. My accidental pumpkin plant is thriving and actually has 3 little pumpkins on it. My silly Benny dog has spent her past few days catching baby birds as they leave their nest. I was able to save one, but I noticed today she has caught another. I have some sad news, and if you could spare a prayer or send good thoughts Id appreciate it. One of my brothers best friends had a massive stroke last week. He was down at least 24 hours before he was found. A healthy vibrant 36 year old man who works out, doesn't drink, doesnt smoke, and eats healthy, has been reduced to the mentality of a 5 year old at best. He cant even swallow his own saliva. Its not a good situation guys. His mom isnt comprehending what the future holds. My brother has been at his bedside holding his hand and reassuring him that things will be ok, meanwhile crying behind closed doors because he knows that its not going to be ok. If you guys could just spare a thought or two, Id appreciate it.

Well shoot, guess Ill just have to plant the asparagus somewhere. I have no idea where to plant it. Ill have to think about it. Doing some redecorating in my little place. I got all excited over a 3 tiered curtain rod (it hangs 3 curtains in layers). My brother called me an old lady lol. I got 2 of them for my kitchen. I have these 2 big windows side by side and I want/need to be able to control how much light comes in. Light = heat for me, so Im trying to keep that out but also use the windows for some indoor plants. Ill get them up tomorrow. Ive had regular curtain rods with dark curtains up since I moved in, Ill like the new curtain rods better. I also ordered an over the sink dish rack that will save me some counter space. Im excited about that too. The space where I currently dry my dishes on a bamboo rack will be my little "coffee bar". Its a perfect spot for my tiny coffee maker and will free up the counter space where it currently sits. I really want something to hang on the wall that has hooks for my coffee cups (multiple) and slots to hold my wine glasses (multiple), but I can't seem to find what I want online so Ill just make one. The landlord has lots of pallets I can use. Zarinna got her ponies dewormed this evening and it went perfectly. Even had enough left over to do the mini donkey.

I keep meaning to take pics of my garden for you guys. My problem is that my cell service at home sucks and often wont let me post pics, so I have to wait til I go to work and use the wifi. I did get my first tomato, which I will eat today for lunch. One of my green pepper plants is giving me peppers faster than I can eat them. My accidental pumpkin plant has a tiny pumpkin starting. I think my green bean plants are done and Ive tossed rhe red leaf lettuce, I still have the green leaf. My cucumbers are a work in progress and I actually need to plant some more today. The plants I bought are giving me the little small pickle like cucumbers. I think the plants I started from seeds will give me the nice cucumbers I want. My zucchini isnt producing yet and my hot pepper plant is full of blooms. I regret buying the asparagus because it has done absolutely nothing since I bought and repotted it. Ya win some, ya learn some.

I want those cows to leave for sure! Got tired of seeing animals (minis) not properly cared for. Got tired of breeding and breeding unnecessarily.

Hey everyone! Everything is going well here. I just got the full report on Zarinnas 4H presentation on how to brush a mini a couple weeks ago. She said it went good. She said that she asked the farm owner if she needed to see her coggins like I told her to do, and the farm owner said yes. They apparently tried putting June on the crossties but June has never been on crossties, so they opted to just tie her to the fence. Zarinna said everything went well and no one had any questions. She said she loaded and unloaded June herself but her grandaddy wouldnt let her work the ramp by herself. I had made sure she could do everything herself, including the ramp, before I left that evening. I told her that it would show her grandaddy that shes responsible. I guess Im not moving Sonic afterall. Things at the farm have changed for the better although the cows are still there. The girls are well aware of the cows and dont let them come near them. Plus it should be time for them to leave soon. Zarinna is paying much more attention to Margarita and June and I feel like if I stay I can really show her how to take care of them the right way. This evening she will deworm them herself, with my help. Next week we will talk about the vaccines/diseases that are in the 5 way shot, and she will be expected to give it to them. I really want her to learn and do everything that needs/should be done, and not just "have a horse". Nobody else is going to show/teach her. Ill still make sure I get to ride Sonic, in fact the plan is for me to ride him while she/they walk the minis. Lyric will be coming back Wednesday. I think things will work out afterall. Mr. Butters and Whitewash are doing just fine. Ive gotten pics and updates from their new home and all is well. She plans on putting Mr. Butters on a supplement (I cant remember the name) and we're both excited to see how he does.

    Very happy for you PD!

Zarinna is taking June to her 4H meeting this evening to do a little presentation on how to brush a mini, lol. Shes memorized all of her brushes and knows how to use them. The trailer was all set up and ready to pull out this evening. I couldn't be there to help her, Im going to a play, but we went over everything. I told her she needs to show her grandaddy she can load and unload her pony by herself, including closing the ramp. So she practiced a few times with me there. I gave her a copy of Junes coggins to take/keep, even had her sign it as the owner. Her grandaddy was gonna haul her this evening. I cant wait to hear how things went.
  19. The Front Porch

The 4H cows are there for free. Thier owner doesnt pay a dime, and they havent been to the farm to check on the cows in weeks. They leave thier stuff (halters and feed pans) laying around and I had to literally pull the halters out of the grass where the grass had grown over them. The feed pans were full of rain water. I had a talk with Zarinna today about the cows. I told her not to be friendly with them, dont pet them and dont allow them to come up to her. I told her not to trust either of them and to carry a plastic bat or stick into the field with her if she goes in there. She says shes gonna talk to her grandaddy (landlord) about moving them to the field where the mini stallion was.

That cake is beautiful! Wellll guyyysss...guess what....you wont believe it! All of the minis are gone, except Margarita and June! The landlord called a friend with a stock trailer and apparently found them a home on an Amish families farm in Pennsylvania. I showed up this morning to help the farrier since Sonic needed to be trimmed too, and the landlord was out there waiting on the trailer. I asked him if he needed help loading the minis (he doesnt ask for help) and could tell by the look on his face that he did. So yes, I loaded/wrangled/wrestled them onto the trailer, and away they went, stallion too! I think we're all relieved. Next, I think those 4H cows will get moved.

Benny had her first snake encounter today. Thats always a fear of mine. Had a dog bit by a copperhead years ago and it was a pretty scary situation. Ive been worried that Benny would get bitten, shes such a puppy still. She catches butterflies and bees, crickets, and other bugs...I just figured, ya know, the puppy in her wouldnt be able to resist. But, she suprised me! She started barking and pointing. I went to see what it was...thinking snake, but didnt see anything. I walked away and sat down. Benny again started barking and pointing, came hopping over to me barking and hopped back over to where there trying its best to hide in the few sprigs of tall grass was the smallest little harmless garden snake Ive ever seen. I wanted to pick it up and put it in the woods but at the same time I didnt want Benny thinking a snake was ok since I touched it. So I shooed it on its way where it slithered through a crevice and under the house. Im so glad my Benny girl is a smart pup. Hopefully any other encounter will go just as well.
  22. The Front Porch

Yep, she loves me. I swear I think this dog knows I saved her. I love all 65lbs of her too honestly. Life wouldnt be the same without her for sure.
  23. The Front Porch

Every time I lay on the couch, she takes it as a personal invitation to lay ontop of me. I wonder if she knows she weighs 65lbs.
  24. The Front Porch

I listed a bunch of stuff on Facebook for sale. Mainly mini stuff. Good grief I have a lot of stuff for minis that werent even mine. So far I sold a leather mini halter. Didnt make much after paypal takes their fee and shipping. Made like $5 lol, oh well, I'll take $5 for something that I'll never use. It was a learning experience for sure and I went back and upped the prices on my listings.

Lost a few cucumber plants. I think the sun was just too much for them. I moved the other ones to an area of the yard that gets shade part of the day and sun the other part of the day. I planted a few more that I started from seeds. One of my plants has a little cucumber on it. Im purging tack. Im a tack hoarder to begin with. I have 7 bridles, numerous bits, several headstalls, reins, rope halters, a hackamore, leather halters etc. I havent opened the rubbermaid containers yet, lord help me. I have 2 english saddles I dont use, pads, etc. And now Ive got 1 horse, so this stuff has got to go. Im giving a bridle to a coworker who recently got a horse, and probably a couple pads. Theres a tack auction this month that Ill haul everything to and make a few bucks.
