  1. My Horses First Winter

The boys are getting electrolytes every evening and an extra morning dose when it's below freezing. They have free access to a big mineral block in the paddock and fresh water always. I also feed them warm soaked beet pulp in the evening. When it's below freezing they get it extra soupy and sometimes a morning portion of the beet pulp too. They have also get as much hay as they can eat whether they are inside or out. Typically they stay out unless it's below 50 and storming or below freezing and the ground is frozen. They love their stalls when the weather is icky.
  2. My Horses First Winter

My Boys arrived at our farm here in TN the last week of October From Central Florida. They are both Fl Bred and raised OTTBs that are in their mid to later teens, so I have been cautious with them this winter. They have settled in beautifully here. I am so pleased. Ollie has been his cheerful hammy self from the moment he rushed off the van and Shadow has really warmed back up now that he is settled in. The boys new barefoot farrier really likes them and their feet are getting better faster than expected. The "farrier" in fl didn't do them any favors. The only issue so far has been sore feet when the ground freezes hard. Their feet shouldn't get as tender next winter. We finnaly got snow here in TN and I was happily surprised to find the boys loved the snow!!!!
  3. My Horses Are Home!

The brats like to stay out behind the barn where I can't really see the them from the house! They have settled in great and don't want their grain or hay just the grass. Which is fine be me. The hay is actually from that very field so same thing haha. I'm happy to save it for winter.
  4. My Horses Are Home!

They got in around 9:30 last night and it has been pouring the entire time. But they seem to have already settled in.
  5. I am so excited to say that after 6 years we are finally shipping my boys up to our farm in TN! We have been putting in fences and converting a 2 car garage into a two stall barn! We are still finishing everything up but the boys are scheduled to be shipping up sometime in the last two weeks of October. We will set the date in the next week or so. EEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!
  6. Its Been A While!

Hey everyone it has been a good while since I have looked around on here! Husband and I have been in our little farm for a year and just love every moment. We both have had promotions at work! He is now a sous chef and I am the maître fromager at the Gaylord Opryland Old Hickory Steakhouse. I have been having way to much fun learning and growing in my position! We have been working hard to fence the property and convert the detached garage into a two stall barn. The stalls are almost done my dad built one Dutch door on the front stall and will be back soon to build the second one. Barn color is dark blue, even the box fans match! Last year I went to Rolex for the first time and of course it was amazing. This year I went again. It was really great! My mom and her friends come up from Ocala and we all meet up. Made quite a haul of all the sale items got my tack store fix for the year I think.

  8. Oh Wow!

I'm completely stunned with how special it is. This is a piece I will treasure forever.
  9. Oh Wow!

I have the best parents ever! They have surprised me with the most special gift. My parents found a vintage tack trunk and refinished it for me. It was in rough shape with broken plastic panels on the outside. My daddy 're did the whole thing with wood veneer and replaced the hinges. Its stunning. I never thought I'd have a trunk this beautiful.
  10. Hc Revisited

Draftie Mama! Its been so long! Husband and I purchased a little farm north of Nashville, TN in April and have been slowly getting things ready for my horses. Horses should be coming up in a month or so!!!! I have ventured into a couple home dairy goats as well as a small flock of laying hens. We love our little place in the country! We also have been working on getting my parents to up and they have officially started looking at houses up here!
  11. Epona's Goat Thread! (Kids Arriving)

Yes the bandanas were taken off right away. They are wearing plastic chain collars that are supposed to breakaway. Yes they tested negative for CL CAE ill look into the g6s. There is a chance they are pregnant as they had a buck in rut out with all of them. I thought it was too early for that though. Im feeding basic goat feed from our co-op and grass hay. They go out for a few hours in the morning and get a walk before going in the barn to their stall. We have only had them two days now. When we are off and home they will stay out all day.
  12. Epona's Goat Thread! (Kids Arriving)

Epona! I got goats! I went with two Nubian does well one is a Nubian/alpine cross. They are very lovely brats so Far. They just saw the vet at the end of may and got clean bills if health. I would love to know what you think of them. They will just be basic home milk goats. They had twins at their first freshening and will be two in jan. They were both bottle babies and are super friendly. And their udders. The lady I bought them from was letting them dry off
