  4. soft in the bridle.

ug! well don't start yelling at me because everytime I ask a question like this and I tell them that I don't have the skill to train a horse like that and we ain't got the $ to send him off, I always get my head bitten off! Like I said. I don't have the skill to train him like that and we don't have the $ to send him to the trainer again. Anyways, I have a very BIG barrel racing show with a lot of money added and I don't think I have the time to take off that much time. I know. I am asking for the quick fix. Don't start yelling at me. I am just a kid asking a question thats all.

  6. soft in the bridle.

Hi. I was wondering if someone could help me with my horse. He is a 5 year old barrel horse and I am having trouble getting him to be soft in the bridle. I am currently using a short shank mylar comfort snaffle and he is ok in it but I ALWAYS have to use a tie down or I will have quite the ride! lol. I have played with bits and I have noticed that he works more willingly with easy/mild gag bits. I have also noticed that he soesn't do so good with bits with no curb chain. He just doesn't have any control with them. I don't know if I should start useing a running martingale with a twisted snaffle or something but I need help.

  8. sponsors

ya. I have a couple sponsors. all you have to do is ask someone if they will sponsor you and then you have to advertise for them.
  9. Is that whipping REALLY helping your horse???

  10. How do you get an extended trot???

ok. so when I said that he used to be a western pleasure horse, He really did used to be one. I trained him myself. But I did'nt train him the way your susposed to, I trained him just some random way. I just went with the flow and did what ever. As in I just worked on one thing at a time until I accomplished it. I didn't read any books on how to train him, I just made up my own way. But I have to say, for a western pleasure horse, I did a smokin job. He placed 9th out of 57 at our State Fair! But back to the topic... He doesn't have the trainning to know what leg cues mean what, I just taught him my own way. Different from everyone else. So all I am asking is how do I get him not to be collected because when I trained him, I taught him to ALWAYS BE COLLECTED. And now... he always is collected and I can't get him extended. I hope I explained things well enough.
  11. How do you get an extended trot???

I dont know if that would work...I trained him as a back yard horse. I mean, I did a TRAIN MYSELF in which that means he isn't trained like your susposed to train him. I just cobb jobed it up. But he still has a peanut rodder headset and a REALLY collected jog.
  12. *BIT HELP*

I don't have the experience to train my horse to do all of that. Casper is a very difficult horse. If you know what I mean. Overall, I am just asking if a gag bit, or a lifter bit would help. I am not saying go to a mule mouth bit of a harsh twisted wire, I am just asking if a bit that applies different pressure points would be fine.
  13. How do you get an extended trot???

I have a horse that I am trainning for barrels and I want to extend his trot but Idk what to do. Be fore, when he was 3, I trained him to de western pleasure and I pounded in his head to be VERY collected and go slow!!!!! Well, I guess all of my hard work payed off becuase I can't get him to extend and go fast! But I don't really know how to. Please help me!
  14. *BIT HELP*

My 5 year old barrel horse is ready to graduate to a bigger bit and I needed some help on getting the right one. He is currently useing a Mylar short shank comfort snaffle and is pushing through and not really giving it much respect. I saw a lifter bit on ebay and I was wondering what your thoughts would be on it. Or what other bit that i should use. ebay horse bit
