  1. To Sell Or Not To Sell

Hello, I wanted to pose the question to get some more opinions. my coach thinks I should sell my horse who is training at 1st level currently and buy a proven 3rd level horse. I have had my horse for 3 years, he used to do hunters so I have put alot of training into him to get him to the point he is at. He is currently 10 years old. I understand that he will peak soon and his price will start to decline which is why she thinks I should sell him now. My plan is never to sell him. He is a pet with the showing as a bonus. I don't really have any goals when it comes to showing. I am just glad when we go to a show he is quiet and goes in the direction I ask him to. I am a very timid riding and do not like the thought of getting used to a new horse. The first time a horse bucked I would quit. I think if I can get this horse to second level on my own(with my coaches help of course) that would mean more than buying a ready made third level horse. Am I missing something?
  2. Horse Hugs Opinion

Those are great stories an pictures. I am so glad I added this topic. Thanks for sharing everone!
  3. Horse Hugs Opinion

Just a quick opinion pole. Do you think that horses understand the meaning of a hug? Do you think they appriciate it?
  4. I went out yesterday to try on some white breeches for showing. Boy did they look terrible. I have a big butt, but honestly I am only 9-10 lbs over being skinnny. Do you have any tricks to make these look ok?
  5. Rambo Blankets

  6. Rambo Blankets

Does anyone have any thoughts on Rambo turnout rugs? I am thinking I would like one but they are very expensive and I want to know that they are worth the money. Do they fit large or small? Also, which style is best and what are the differences? One more question. At what temperature do I need medium weight and heavy weight? Thanks.
  7. Help with saddle fit please.

I went through much the same problem. I finally bit the bullet and bought a DK Freedom saddle. It was about 5K. I really didn't want to do that but after buying one that the saddle fitter couldn't get to fit and feeling sorry for my horses back I just went for it. The DK is awesome. It has air flocking and a completely adjustable tree. That is my experience. Not sure if it helps.
  8. What kind of helmet do you show in?

Can you show dressage in the GR8? I didn't think it would be suggested.
  9. Hi, I am wondering what kind of helmet you show in and why you love it or hate it?
  10. Snow in GA!!!! AGAIN!!!!

I am glad you have cheered up but bummed that you won't be able to ride on your week off. I have a friend who is in a wheelchair after riding on the ice and having her horse fall over on her. So do be careful. I think your picture is really cute.
  11. Snow in GA!!!! AGAIN!!!!

LOL from your Canadian friend. Actually you need to lose the snow we are heading for Florida in 3 weeks to get away from the stuff. Nobody wants to drive through a state where it's snowing but nobody who lives there has snow tires! Not to mention the lack of salt on the roads, scary stuff. I am glad you and your horses are enjoying the snow while it lasts. [ 01-18-2008, 12:18 PM: Message edited by: pnyxprss ]
  12. Rambo Blankets

Thanks everyone! I think it is clear that the Rambo's are worth the money. Now I need to know which model to get, which weight to get and what size to get. Any suggestions. It is usually just below 0 celecius here in the winter with the odd day below -15. My horse is clipped. He usually wears a 78 so would this hold true for Rambo's? Thanks again.

  14. back shoes in winter

Cat2: I have never heard of these boots before. I looked them up and they say they are for barefoot horses. Can they be worn with shoes as well? NCTailgirl: It has now been 5 weeks since he has had a trim, my blacksmith will be back on Monday thank goodness. My horse had his shoes off in late fall, his feet were fine when we had snow but now the snow is gone and the ground is hard. His feet have actually fallen apart so much this last week that they are too short and warn away and the lamini are sticking out his toes, poor guy. One foot is particulary bad. I can't seem to figure out how to put pictures on here. Sorry.
