  1. Cheri Another Interesting One....

"For starters, I'd be pumping hard feed (high energy feed/sweetfeed)into him with no work and have him wanting to work the energy off." This is one of the most odd things I think I've ever heard for this type problem. Yes, you could put him out with a mean old mare and he'd learn how to act and respect her - but you as the rider/human may be a different story. It has been proven over and over again by almost all the big name trainers that this issue should be dealt with in the round pen and doesn't involve hitting. Hitting this horse right now is only going to teach him fear - not respect.

  5. Is there anything you can do to ease a crooked leg?

I have a 7 YO AQHA gelding that is just as toed out as this guy and it doesn't cause him any problems. Typically any leg correction for this horse would have had to be attempted when he was still young and growing. My suspicion is the problem this horse is experiencing has nothing to do with his toed out conformation. One thing the owners may consider is chiropractic adjustment. I've seen a friend of mines barrel racer act like that...not want to turn a certain direction and keep his head cocked to one side...after chiropractic adjustment, he is fine.

  7. Need advice on introducing horses..

Sounds to me like her dam should not be reproducing - especially fillies. Her fillies will learn the mothering skills from this mare. That being said....Unless you have the facilities to put them in neighboring paddocks so they can settle their differences with a good fence in between, your only other option is to just let nature take it's course - hope and pray they will get this little argument over with quickly and go on about their lives.

  9. Global Warming?

Cheree.............my father is the state geologist for a state I won't mention out of respect. He has his engineering degree from The school of mines in Colorado. He is very active in science and technology. I've been to several meetings attended by some of the top geologists, engineers and they all agree (with documentation form leading scientific groups) that there is no ligitimate data showing that humans are causing "Global warming" Any data showing certain activites that people like you are claiming is causing global warming - can also be found as occuring on neighboring planets. I am not a scientist. But I am surrounded by them both in my personal and professional life and they all agree. If you would like to contact one of them and discuss this in length, I would be happy to pass your email address on to one of them?
  10. Global Warming?

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble - but "global warming" is a joke.....If you really do any research and find out what reputable scientists are finding, "global warming" is not happening and if there are some years that are a little warmer than others, they are finding this is also the same scenario on all the planets in our galaxy. So unless there are some extrterrestrials driving carbon emmitting vehicles on mars, we have nothing to do with a warmer period. Aslo... The icecaps at the south pole have had a record growth in the last year. This winter we are going through right now has changed the average temperature of the earth by minus 1 degree which means cooler - not warmer.
  11. Help- Western saddle for high withered TB!

You will need to be looking at semi QH bars and the narrower the better. If you are unable to find a saddle that fits, you can purchase pads that will lift the front of the saddle up off the withers. Hope this helps
  12. Bug Eye Fly Mask

"I heard..one of those friend of a friend stories, that the bug eye part can go in, so it's not bugging out anymore and really hit the horse's eye. Not sure if it's true." I bought one and if my app filly would have left it on, it might have worked great. But yes, the eye can be pushed in.
  13. Confo Critique please?

I like her short back. She looks a little higher in the hip than the withers - could still be growing. Her throat latch looks a little thick but that could be the winter coat. She has good angles on her pasturns - they should match the shoulder angle if you want a smooth riding horse. Her hocks look like they are set a little to far out in back but that could just be the way she is standing. I did notice you had her chained to a gate - be very careful when doing this, I've seen horses freak and break the gate right off and injur themselves.
  14. Looks like a dun - has the line down the back. I have a true buckskin - he has no line down his back.
  15. HELP.. aqha question.. my earless colt!!

It will not "kill" you to show this horse in AQHA but you will be wasting your time and money. Judges aren't supposed to make decisions on blemishes but believe me, 2 horses - both nice - both perfect conformation - but one has some flaws. Who do you think the judge will pick. It won't be the one with blemishes.
