  1. I've never said they did. I've never blamed the victims. I've always blamed the bankers, insurance companies, mortgage lenders and credit ratings agencies. Who borrowed the money is neither here nor there. What matters is who lent it and why. The film Inside Job explains how tens of millions of people lost their savings, their jobs and their homes. It's a tale of greed, corruption and fraud. A tale of private jets and private elevators. A tale of strippers, hookers and drugs. A tale of the "systemic corruption of the US by the financial services industry and the consequences of that systemic corruption." A tale of bankers, insurance companies, mortgage lenders and credit ratings agencies in other words. You can watch it here: http://documentarylovers.com/film/inside-job/ Also, too, The Big Short is terrific: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_big_short/ From memory, and I've watched both films twice, neither even mentions house flippers as a cause of the crisis.
  2. With respect, I simply don't understand this. No-one has ever said the crash was caused by poor, sub-prime lenders. There is no such thing as a poor, sub-prime lender. And, if you mean sub-prime borrowers, it still makes no sense. The crash was caused by bankers lending money to folks who had little or no prospect of paying the money back. That's called a sub-prime loan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subprime_lending No-one has ever blamed the poor. Everyone, rightly, has blamed the banks. Oh, my. My head is about to explode. Stop blaming the victims. Please.
  3. Candace Owens (for it is she) is nuts. She goes to considerable length to say there's no racism in the US. Absolutely none. Nowhere. A white girl checked her into the gym. Hooray! A Spanish girl made her coffee. Hooray! If you read the press you'd think there exists deep-rooted, institutional racism in the US. There isn't! She then says: "the education system and the prison system. These are two institutions that actually do systematically oppress and disadvantage African-Americans and keep us on the cycle of crime and poverty." and laments that this isn't reported by the media, presumably because it would be evidence of deep-rooted, institutional racism in the US. And this is simply beyond belief from a POC: "The media is going to keep encouraging us to act like absolute animals." The stupid. It burns.
  4. Well Flynn's taken the Fifth, having previously said he'd testify in exchange for immunity. He clearly has nothing to hide. However, it seems the Fifth only applies to what you may be asked to say in the present, and not to what you may have said in the past. And what you may have said in the past includes documents. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/05/22/can-michael-flynn-refuse-to-turn-over-documents-to-congress-yes-but-he-risks-jail/?tid=pm_politics_pop&utm_term=.0306ed2c0c0e Well worth reading in full. Could get interesting. Meanwhile President Donald J. Trump has denied a Russia allegation that no-one made: http://edition.cnn.com/2017/05/22/politics/trump-israel-russia/ Then he told a roomful of Israelis that he'd 'just got back from the Middle East'. http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/05/22/trump_to_israelis_we_just_got_back_from_the_middle_east.html As everyone knows, Israel is not in the Middle East, it's in...er...lemme think...er... I dunno, ask Trump And then: Watch it here: it's a thing of beauty: https://mobile.twitter.com/haaretzcom/status/866661844999712769/video/1 He's not just an embarrassment to the US, he's an embarrassment to his wife. And to the world at large at a rough guess. Tiny-fingered, Cheeto-faced, ferret-wearing shitgibbon is what I hear they're calling him. That's just a rumor, mind.
  5. https://tinyurl.com/ln6nj5u 'Nuff said.
  6. English National Front, photographed in Dover, England, January 2016: http://www.itv.com/news/2016-01-30/far-right-and-anti-fascist-groups-clash-at-protests-in-dover/
  7. Indeed. It's worth noting that the same photo appears on dozens (I really can't be bothered to visit or count them all) of right-wing websites in articles about Coulter and Berkeley. Free Republic (home of the 'freepers') has this: They are manifestly not Berkeley Liberals - they are English National Front racists, but the freepers lap up this garbage daily, and without pause. The fact that the same photo appeared on so many right-wing websites in such a short space of time, all in articles about Berkeley students, tells you why the network of right-wing websites is referred to as a 'right-wing echo-chamber'. It is, simply, a propaganda machine, and a very sophisticated one.
  8. I don't think she Googled it. You can find it here: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-04-15/pro-trump-and-antifa-factions-riot-berkeley-during-free-speech-rally Headline:Pro-Trump and Antifa Factions Riot in Berkeley. Date April 15 2017 Here: http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/266443/campus-fascism-rising-matthew-vadum Headline: Campus Fascism Rising. Date April 19 2017 Here: https://www.bombthrowers.com/article/campus-fascism-rising/ Headline Campus fascism rising. Date April 19 2017 Here: https://fabiusmaximus.com/2017/04/17/insights-from-the-berkeley-riot-sucker-punch/ Headline: The “sucker punch” at the Berkeley riot reveals the rot in our politics. Date April 17 2017 And on and on. Remember it's National Front marchers in England, January 2016.
  9. My first thought when I saw the picture was: If they're students then I'm an Alaskan female. So I searched for it and found it here: http://www.itv.com/news/2016-01-30/far-right-and-anti-fascist-groups-clash-at-protests-in-dover/ A number of points: It was taken in Dover, Kent. Dover, Kent is in England It was taken at a National Front march against immigration It was taken in January 2016 All things considered, it has precisely nothing to do with Berkeley, Coulter or Democrats. Just small points, but they seem to matter.
  10. Reality-based Alaskandraft: "Mexico said they wouldn't pay for the wall". Also, too, those pesky Republicans won't either: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/apr/25/us-government-shutdown-trump-border-wall But it's coming. Sometime. Soon. No rush. Plenty of time. Lots of time: Ibid. Yep, that's Donald J. Trump. President of the United States. Read it and weep.
  11. I was just trying to express some solidarity: However, I'll reword: Shorter Alaskandraft: "I watch Fox rather than CNN because the women are more attractive." Alaskan women are strange.
  12. Shorter Alaskandraft: I watch Fox rather than CNN because the wimmins are more attractive. Alaskan wimmins is strange.
  13. Shorter Alaskandraft: The wimmins were asking for it. Alaskan wimmins is strange.
  14. People used to listen to what the POTUS of the time had to say. It mattered to them. Often it mattered to people in other countries all over the world. Now people reading what he has to say, or write, are described as being obsessed with the minor crap in life. How far, and how fast, have we fallen.
  15. ...'cos every time he uses it I'm reminded that President Donald J. Trump has the intellect of a child. ...'cos every time I do I'm reminded that President Donald J. Trump has the intellect of a child. I think you do, otherwise you wouldn't be wishing someone would deactivate his account. Yep. I bring up his tweets and imply by doing so: "SEE?!: President Donald J. Trump has the intellect of a child." I only make the implication. The tweets themselves make the actual case.
