  1. Found The Right Stud

So Mia Miss Print( http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/mia+miss+print )is my 8 yr BS APHA mare that I decided two years ago to breed for a show prospect. Well life kind of got in the way of that when we moved from CO to WY and in the meantime I have been searching for just the right match. I found him he is a AQHA stallion names Dashing Move Fame( http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/dashing+move+fame )standing at 7lazyK Quarter Horse Ranch in WY. He looks like he will compliment my mare nicely and he is APHA approved. While I realize that the foal may not be colored I am going to be showing dressage mostly anyways so the color don't matter to me. I mailed the booking fee and contrat today!!
  2. Scratches

So heres the story. My 2 year old gelding got sick on me early October with a sinus infection, we got him all healed up but now find that one pastern has this greasy/crusty buildup on it. Scratches!! He is in a dry lot that is cleaned daily so its not a sanitation thing and its really dry here in WY. What can I use to treat it and how do I keep it from coming back?? I have never had a case of this and am not sure how to treat it. I called the vet and they have to see him before they can say. WTH $100 vet visit for something I can treat at home with over the counter medicine.
  3. Fsh-got One?

This is Sugar she is a Friesian x Arabian FSH. She has such beautiful movement and I can't wait to get started with her training. She is only a 2yr and was starved down when I bought her in April so she looks alittle thin in some of the pics. I am finding that she is very easy to teach things to but is so much hotter than the stock horses I am use to working with. She isn't going to be a giant horse either I think she will get to be just over 15h. 9/24/10 5/21/10
  4. My sister in laws new litter half of them were born without tails. I think for docking its two or three joints. Thats what the vets do here.
  5. I guess it just depends where you are on the price. Here you can buy mini Aussies for $450 and real nice standard working Aussies for around $250. I gave that for mine and I love her.
  6. Update On Sugar

So Sugar is going to start her round pen work tomorrow, the plan fjor the winter is round pen to join up, then sack out with more stuff from around the barn (feed sacks, rags, tarps, saddle pads, fly sheet, ect) then saddle her and start driving. I have 3 different sizes of round pens so as we go we progress to the which is a 100' round pen until we are in the arena or going down the road. This little filly is hotter than the steady QHs I've started in the past but I am looking forward to getting started on the ground so she will be ready to back in the spring. I have river bottom and trails to work with also so she doesn't get to bored with this. I can't wait to introduce her to the mini donkeys down the way. They also prove to be interesting to the young horse's. My neighbors bring them over and walk them through the arena near the round pen for first intro's so we don't get in a wreck out on the road but there is still high drama. LOL> Horse's: "Tiny horse eating donkeys hurry run away before they eat us!!! UGH !!"> I always have to laugh! This so annoys the mares who pasture across the road from them. But since the BO and me have 2 weanlings & 2 yearlings and Sugar who is 2 yrs that haven't seen them yet I should be making a call to set up a Saturday introduction. I will be posting new pics soon of our progress.
  7. Questions On Beet Pulp And Alfalfa Cubes

You do seen to be feeding alot of hay. Why do you soak the hay cubes?? All I feed is alfalfa cube for hay and I feed them about 15# a day. My hay cubes are tested and everyone stays fat and sassy on them. They have free access to mineral and fed a locally mixed grain that is tested and mixed with mineral for our area. Unless you are feeding aged horses you shouldn't need to soak the cubes. By not soaking them it takes them longer to eat them. I do feed a smaller sized cube to the babies but I do not soak them. One advantage I have found is that my horses only need to have teeth don't once a year if at all. The only time I soak is if I need to make a mash then I soak with warm water. Another nice thing I found about the cubes is that my horses seem to get a better feed conversion out of them. I get better weight with less feed than when I only feed baled hay. I also have "0" waste and fewer flies in the summer. I have fed this way for 3yrs and wouldn't go back.
  8. How Tall Will My Baby Get?

So my hubby bought me a baby for our anniversary and he is really big. Is there a way to measure him and come close to how tall he will get?? I think he will be 16+ just because momma was a very large mare (who I have seen) and sire is said to be 16.1.
  9. Pics Of Booger And Joey
