  1. How To Shop For My Next Horse

I have an OTTB who does just fine barefoot. I also use her as a trail horse and have done some other things like barrel racing and western dressage just for fun. She does have some rides where she's more "up" if I haven't worked her for a few days, but she calms back down and gets into work mode pretty easily. If I'm riding her regularly I trust her with my husband and a couple of my friends who are definitely beginners and she does great with them riding around our 30 acres. Anyway, all I'm trying to say is don't discount a whole breed just because of stereotypes, etc. it's definitely something to be aware of though and keep in mind- a breed's characteristics...

You could try calling a couple stables and kinda put the word out there that you're looking for a lease... Or even some trainers. They might have clients looking or something

I feel you guys... There's not a lot for me to do besides set up meetings to intro my recruiters to different hiring managers... I didn't have any meetings for today so I'm just bored lol So I'm guessing the details that you worked out for the new job were agreeable, corrie?

You could try leasing a horse until spring and that way you can see how your body responds and maybe try some different disciplines, etc...

Congrats, very exciting!! I start my new gig on the 13th :) I'm just finishing out my two weeks right now and it has reminded me of why I chose to make a move and made me feel much better about it. Haha I did get a hire yesterday, so they can't say I didn't work hard through the end! ;-)
  6. Weylin's First Camp Trip!

Alright... I'm freaking out a little. I have a job offer that is MUCH closer to home. I would go from driving 45 miles one way and an hour and a half in the car each way... To 17 miles and like 25 mins of driving with no stop/go traffic. The base salary is a little more, but the bonus structure is different. So initially, it would feel like less money, but annually it would be about the same if not a little more. Also, there's more growth opportunities at this new company and it's more along the line of what I went to school for. I'm just nervous. A new career in a new industry is exciting, but also kind of scary. I think I just need to suck it up and go for it. The company even came back because initially the offer was too low and they had said it was the final offer, so I had to walk away. However, they had a meeting to discuss my background/experience and potential in the company so they called me up and made me a new offer. I feel like they really believe in me and want me to join the team, which is a good feeling when considering a new company. Also, I've been really frustrated in my current role, so I guess I don't really know what's holding me back besides stepping out into the unknown, ya know?

Oh no, I'm sorry Hils! Prayers for you and your family!
  10. Suggestions For Meal Planning Websites?

I've used before. You do have to pay for it, but it's pretty affordable and I just did one months worth, which provide plenty of options for me. Each week has 7 different meals and you can pick the plan for one person, two people, a whole family, etc. You can even pick plans for what stores you typically shop at, etc.
  11. I'm having a hard time with everyone coming down on her and talking about how dumb she is for staying with him, etc. If you have been around domestic violence, then you know it's a lot more complicated then that. The abuser almost ALWAYS starts out as VERY charming because they are MANIPULATIVE. They win the other person over with their charms and "love", etc. They then start to slowly isolate you from your family and friends because "they just don't understand the love we have, blah blah blah" but really the family/friends are just seeing the impending abuse. Usually it starts out as verbal abuse and then escalates to physical, but by that point you literally feel like you have NO ONE in your corner anymore because the abuser has instilled that into your mind and you've seen the disgust written all of your family/friends faces, so you believe that you';re not worthy of true love and that you deserve to be treated this way and that it's normal, etc. etc. etc. OR you might realize there is a problem and you want to get out, but because you have been isolated from your friends/family you don't feel like you have an "out" and that there will be no one there to help you escape.
