Thanks for the replies everyone. We have steel pipe, I just don't think I want a pipe one. I've had those before. I have a bunch of old telephone poles. I get them ree from the phone company. I guess I could use those. There's one down at an old fire tower in the Shawnee Forest that I like real well. I guess I need to go look at it real good again. Meekie I like the square post. I could have my phone poles sawed into square posts. I have a friend who owns a saw mill. ...or find some RR ties.

  10. Anyone Pull A Trailer W/ A Mini Motor Home?

I knew someone that always hauled this way. The only thing is ....They hated it and did finally buy them a horse trailer with LQ's. That's the only people I know personally that ever pulled that way. I can't tell you why they hated it, I didn't ask them. I just know they would always say how much they wished they had a trailer with LQ's instead. I think the only time they ever used their camper was when they went with their horses. I also think it would depend on whether you were going to use your camper at other times when going without the horses. I'd say it's just personal preference because I see people camped at the campgrounds with RV's and small campers and pulling small bumper pulls.
  11. Central Il Trail Riders Chat

I never heard about this. I hope the new trails are actually in the woods. One of the reasons we don't go up to Forbes much is because all of the riding out in the open. I'll have to go up nd check out the new trails sometime.
  12. Shawnee Columbus Day

Well this year has been rainy every month! It's just been a wet year. It would be great if you come next spring! It might be raining.. but we can wear rain coats. I would have came if I hadn't had this new litter of puppies. ...or if they had been a little older. I'm glad CathyJ was able to visit you! Too bad about your husband's new saddle, but nice of McKinneys to let you use the old one til the new one is fixed. They're real good people to deal with.

  17. The Count Is On!

Wow! New saddles! Great! I'm sorry I didn't make it to the campground for a visit. I've been really busy. My dog had her puppies Friday morning so I have 7 new puppies I'm taking care of. Then we spent from Sunday on building the porch.. still have to roof to finish on it. ...so I didn't make it to visit but we'll get together sometime. I haven't been camping for 3 or 4 weeks now.. just been busy. I can't wait to see all your pictures!!!!
  18. The Power Outage

I actually kept my mammogram appointment. I was met with, "Hi! I'm Belinda!" This perky clipboard carrier smiled from ear to ear, tilted her head to one side and crooned, "All I need you to do is step into this room right here, strip to the waist, then slip on this gown. Everything clear?" I'm thinking, "Belinda, try decaf. This ain't rocket science." Belinda skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors. With the right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and said, "Hmmmm. Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so we can get everything?" Fine, I answered. I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck and finish me off? My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other **** wedged between those two 4 inch pieces of square glass) when we heard, then felt a zap! Complete darkness and the power went off! "Oh, maintenance is working. Bet they hit a snag." Belinda headed for the door. "Excuse me! You're not leaving me in this vise alone are you?" I shouted. Belinda kept going and said, "Oh, you fussy puppy...the door's wide open so you'll have the emergency hall lights. I'll be right back." Before I could shout "NOOOO!" she disappeared. And that's exactly how Bubba and Earl, maintenance men extraordinaire, found me, half-naked and part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life, and the other part smashed between glass! After exchanging polite "Hi, how's it going" type greetings, Bubba (or possibly Earl) asked, to my utter disbelief, if I knew the power was off. Trying to disguise my hysteria, I replied with as much calmness as possible "Uh, yes, yes I did thanks." "You bet, take care" Bubba replied and waved good-bye as though I'd been standing in the line at the grocery store. Two hours later, Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin. Making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said, "Oh I am sooo sorry!" The power came back on and I totally forgot about you! And silly me, I went to lunch. Are we upset?" And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the clamps.
  19. Stolen Horse Found. Now What...

Go buy her back or give someone (that you trust ) the money to go buy her back. After this long and no police report ever being filed, then all you can do at this point is buy the horse back. It would probably cost you more to proceed with legal action than it would to just go buy the horse.

  23. Living Quarters Trailer For Trail Riding/camping

You can buy a small gooseneck 2 horse with LQ's or room to build LQ's. I know a lot of people that camp alone that have 2 horse and even 3 horse trailers with full LQ's or a weekend pkg. As for the camper in the back of the truck. I would think sliding it in and out of the truck every time you go would be a pain. I also wouldn't like that my truck was tied up into my camp site. I like to get out a drive around sometimes when I'm camping. I like the idea of setting up camp and un-hooking from the truck. As for hauling when you're not going camping, a small LQ trailer wouldn't be bad. When we had our 28 foot LQ trailer we had a small trailer without LQ that we could use when not camping, but I sold it because we pulled the LQ trailer everywhere. Now with the bigger LQ trailer I wish I had a smaller stock trailer for vet trips and day riding. As for the price of the trailers.. you can find trailers in every price range. You can do a nice small steel trailer (used and older) for probably less or the same as a nice slide in camper would cost you for the back of a truck. It's just personal prefference. I would rather have a trailer than a truck camper.
