  1. Making Your Own ''bling'' Tack

im just talking about blinging out an already made headstall or breastcollar :) and i can imagine it is quite expensive!! hahaha
  2. Making Your Own ''bling'' Tack

hey guys :) i have really been considering making my own tack lately due to the insane prices at where i live. i understand getting into something like this isnt cheap by any means but i think it would be fun to create something totally custom. so i guess being a total newbie at this, where do i start? im going to run out and buy a really cheap headstall and breastcollar, but what kind of tools should i be buying? where should i buy my hides at? (croc, stingray, etc) what about the gems and what not? ahhhh it seems kinda overwhelming hahaha. any tips are greatly appreciated :)
  3. Would This Be Safe?

so, i decided to stop feeding both of my horses grain cause they really dont need it anymore because they are not being ridden and are weathering quite well lol but anyway i now have a 50lb bag of flax seed no longer being used but i still want to accomidate it daily somehow but i cant top dress it on the grain anymore since they arent getting fed grain. so i was wondering if it would be safe if i was to soak the flax seed ( the flax seed i have is stabilized), and form it into like a ''cookie'' and leave it out to dry out? or would it go rancid? i just want somehow to be able to still feed them the flax cause they really benefit from it, any thoughts or suggestions????
  4. Trimming Help?

im no expert here by any means, i have been trimming for about 6+ solid years and what i can tell from the photo's is that you are being quite generous with the amount of hoof your not taking off ( which is actually a good thing sometimes cause i see people all the time taking off way too much!!) dont be afraid to really exfoliate that sole see all that scaley stuff at the apex of the frog and around it? that is false sole and its fine to really clear that because its trying to wear off anyway. dont be nervous about your bars either, i would take them right down until you can clearly distinguish where the bars start and the sole begins. very nice bevel though!! just dont forget to address the heels a bit more. im sure with more practice you will be great!

  6. Need Ideas On How To Bandage This...

  7. Need Ideas On How To Bandage This...

hey guys, so long story short, we loaded my horse in a trailer to take her home, and shortly after she started having a fit and scalped herself pretty deep from rearing up in the trailer. we got it stitched now and it is draining nicely, im just kind of stumped on how to bandage it? right now i just have a heavy layer of gauze then vet wrapped it around her forehead and throatlach and then i put her fly mask over top of that but i just feel like she is gunna wipe it off? so if anyone has any ideas on better bandaging to be shy to post!! thank you :)

  10. Help With ''hot'' Horse

i dont smack her if she spooks! i only give her a smack if she decides she wants to plow me over. we have done tons of despooking, and she is really good at understanding if she chills out, then the spooky item will go away. i just wish she wouldnt find leaving her paddock so bad. i will try lounging her everytime she wants to run tomorow and hopefully she will start understanding better :) thanks guys
  11. Help With ''hot'' Horse

hello everyone i am in a pickle at the moment, and have been for some time now. i have this super sweet filly that i am so in love with in everyway EXCEPT how excitable she gets the second you take her out of her paddock. uggggghhh. its the most annoyingist (sp?) thing in the whole world! she will be fine if you lead her in her paddock, perfect manners and never crowds me, but the second we leave her paddock (and especially if her other buddy starts freaking out and running) she will forget all her manners, start to tense up, her head goes straight up, and she will try and plow me over and take off! she snorts at everything and if i make a quick movement she just freaks ugh.its not like i feed her too much and she has plenty of turn-out time, and im out there EVERYDAY. i take my croup out with me so when she tries to do that, i give her a good smack in the chest and make her back up NOW. im not shy about putting her in her place, but this is really getting old. so if anyone has some ideas to help, i would love to hear them

  14. Please Help With Jambette On Ground :)

hello recently i have started teaching Capri to do jambette (sticking leg out straight). she has had around 3 lessons with it, and we currently are only just lifting the leg straight up (no extension at all). all i do right now is say ''foot'' and point with my croup and she will pick up her foot and put it right back down. i am thrilled that she is catching on so quickly with the voice command alone but now i want to be able to actually get her leg to extend in front of her and HOLD it there. im just not sure how to go about this so please help!!
