  1. Continued Riding...

Smile, as always thank you for the great advice!!!!
  2. What's Your Favorite Saddle Brand!

I absolutely LOVE my Sheri Cervi Martin. A bit pricey but it fits any I put it on and it is not only very pretty but the most comfortable saddle I've ever had!
  3. Continued Riding...

Ya'll both mention riding in a pasture. The only pasture I have to ride in is the pasture my horses are in. I have always ridden my horses in it, as when it rains it doesn't hold water so it doesn't have to have the drying out everywhere else does. I recently heard someone say that you shouldn't ride your horse where they live. What is ya'lls thought on this?? Thanks again for ALL the great advice!
  4. Continued Riding...

VERY great advice, thank you!!! My main problem now that she is home is the consistent riding. Between work and the early sun setting the weekend (when the weather allows) I get her ridden. I greatly appreciate your advice!!!!
  5. Barrel Horse Mare

Out of shape is an understatement. She has had about 60-70 rides on her, I bought her back in March/April and she was at the trainer until I just got her home. My goal is to get her muscled up and in shape and get her going on barrels. Eventually wanting to use her as a broodmare though. I really appreciate your input :)
  6. Popping Noise When Walking...

I recently brought my mare home from the trainer (where I bought her from). She was in basically an all sand environment (pasture and riding area). Since she has been home I've noticed a popping noise in one of her back legs, cannot tell which one it is. My ground is a harder clay. No lameness or limping when she's in the pasture or riding. Just curious as to what this could be... I've associated it with maybe the change in ground she's on. However, just wondering if it could be something more to it. Any thoughts???
  7. Popping Noise When Walking...

I don't seem to be hearing it as much now, so hopefully it was just a temporary thing. Definitely going to keep that advice in mind just to be safe!

  9. Popping Noise When Walking...

I talked to the trainer earlier, she didn't notice anything when she was there that maybe she could be growing. Thank you all for your advice
  10. Popping Noise When Walking...

I will keep that in mind, I've heard great things about glucosamine. Just going to keep an eye on her, thank you :)
  11. Popping Noise When Walking...

Thank you for that, it kind of what I was thinking!!! I think I'm just going to keep a watch on her, if she starts swelling or becoming lame will definitely take actions. I am not a fan of loading them up on supplements or injections if not needed. Especially since she is only 5.
  12. Popping Noise When Walking...

Thanks Heidi!! Yeah I just saw that, tried to delete the other post but couldn't figure it out lol!!! I went out there just about every weekend and never really noticed it, was gonna eamil her now just to ask!
  13. Popping Noise When Walking...

    She is 5.
  14. First Horse Show

Well I got my gelding almost a year ago and we are finally going to our first show Saturday!!! It's a local open show (hopefully nothing to crowded lol) and it will be his first show EVER!!! He's 10 and not really sure he's been to a show before (according to previous owner). I am a bit anxious about how he will do, he's been doing great at home, but that's at home Anyways, I usually get nervous showing anyways but it's bearable but for some reason, I'm guessing bc I'm not sure how he's going to do I'm super nervous (like already nervous and it's still only Wed lol) Any helpful hints on what everyone does to relax before a show??? Thank you!!!!
  15. Fall Pictures!

    Love those pics!!!!
  16. Collecting And Controlling At The Canter

So we've perfected the trot and bending at the walk trot with control! But this cantering is really becoming a pain!! I can't get him collected and working off his butt! He's still green I know but just wanting to see if anyone has any tips!! Thanks y'all!
  17. Collecting And Controlling At The Canter

So I took the advice you all gave me and had a great ride this morning!! Most relaxed he's ever been!! Thank you all
  18. Collecting And Controlling At The Canter

Great point!! I can definitely see where this could be an issue with him!! I will try switching around our workouts every time instead of same walk-trot-canter routine! He gets to were he all but knows (or thinks he knows) when we are going to canter and he starts getting anxious. If only horses could talk lol granted I may not want to hear what he would say to me
  19. Collecting And Controlling At The Canter

I've been doing a lot of pattern work (figure 8's, serpentines) working on him with the walk-trot trot-jog and it has worked great!! Will definitely start working on that at the canter as well!! Thanks a bunch Nick great advice!! I think I keep forgetting this is for fun not a job lol!!
  20. Collecting And Controlling At The Canter

Smile I really wish I lived close to you, lol!! You always have great advice!! When I read that I know exactly what you meant. Our transitions are not so great... He really struggles with his leads and I know that probably is partially how I cue him but it seems ever horse I've ever had or ridden was cued different to pick up the correct lead!! I posted a blog about that a while back but then he cut his face real bad and was on rest for 2 weeks. Patience seems to be the key here and I lack that, but he's teaching me that, that's for sure!! Cantering just seems to get him all spastic, I think I'm trying to hard to keep everything together, is that a possibility??? Ahhhh I am loosing my mind haha!!! I was going to send him to a trainer for a month or so just to get the basics down but I really wanted this to be my project and plus the monies just not there for that right now!! Thanks again for ALL your help!!
  21. Bit For The Show Ring!

Well I guess I'm 1/2 way there!! I found a great bit to school my gelding in but now I need help finding a bit for the show ring!! Schooling we use a loose ring snaffle... Any ideas for a bit to move to the hunt seat show ring?? A lot of people say Myler has great bits but there are just too many bits I don't even know where to start!! Thanks for the help :)
  22. Bit For The Show Ring!

Dot you love when you answer yourself lol!! I guess I just need to work on my patience now haha!!
  23. Bit For The Show Ring!

Yeah I think in the show ring it feels like I need a little more just bc it is still new to him and he seems a little bit harder to get his attention but that comes with experience!! Do y'all recommend a little harsher bit or just more shows to get him more confident??? I've never been a fan of slapping on a harsher bit to keep a horses attention!
  24. Bit For The Show Ring!

Well I've been using the French link, I think you had mentioned that to me before, but it's just not working! I don't know why I got it stuck in my head I couldn't use it in the shows lol!!
  25. Open Shows In North And South Caroline

I am looking for some open shows to take my hunt seat gelding to! We had our first show today and want to try and get a few more in before the end of the year. Thank you!!!
