  2. About 2-3 Years From Now?

Okay all! I'm 14 all english rider, I have trained a 2 year old pony(now a 5 year old eventing pony for my little friend, 6 year old, and he is 11 hands) he had no prior training and he is beast. I want to look into a foal(yes from my previous forums your all like NOO! but let me finish!) so my aunt and my trainer are willing to help and also parelli and clinton anderson ;)! (you know what I mean!) Sooooo, The breed is up to me! this will be a couple years from now! But I thought I would ask this now to give my self time to think! I want a horse for eventing. I lovvveee Thoroughbreds but they are so common and so high strung, and I know with the right training they can be amazing! but not for me:( and I dont want a quarter horse appendix quarter horse. YEP IM BEING PICKY!! I know its not about the breed as much temperment and docilety but, I am going to not 100% rule them out but I want to see what anyone of you can think of!! Thank you all so much!!! Photo of CJ the pony I have trained!!

  7. Should I Get This Horse?

Hi, I'm a Novice-Intermediate Rider With 5 years of experience, I walk, trot, canter and can jump a good 2'9. I have a crazy standardbred and he can no longer be ridden, I have mainly ridden OTTB's my first lesson horse was a 15.2 hand pony then I moved up to a 17 hand OTTB, I rode her with much complication but I loved it. Now we are looking for a new horse. I'm currently In love with a 17 thoroughbred we found he is HUGE!!! Built Perfectly!!! So well balanced and just perfect, Hes my dream horse. He was never Raced. Hes 7 years old and his owner gave him a 6 on tempernment, His owner owned his parents ( They were raced) and had The horse since he was a born, He trained it, yet he is not finished. Jumping for 2-3 years and has been wonderful! He is the most confident htoroughred I have ever met in my life! You throw him at something and hes on it. My aunt does not like thoroughbreds and will not be happy if I get him, She lives right nextdoor and I will have to ride at her place everyday and will never hear the end of it. She does not like english riding or showing although her husband shows english and has an OTTB? It makes no sense.she only looks at some of the high strung TBs shes met and goes by that..She trail rides and has teneessee walkers and really I dont like them....She keeps looking at walkers for me and wont stop telling me how much she hates me getting this horse..Now my mom is begining to agree with her...My mother and Aunt have only seen me ride like 5 times...I love this horse. and I feel soo Safe on him..He is still some what green and will glance at things but Is something I feel safe handeling. What does everyone think?? Good horse or should I get a walker or old Qaurter horse? P.S. My event Trainer says hes to green, I left her barn. And my parents or aunt have never even seen pictures of this horse.
  8. Hi, so we got our new little mare (16.2 Hands) Her name is Ginger and she is a Registerd Palomino Quarter Horse. She is the most wonderful Mare ever!! When we ride I can get the canter in one Direction then in the other direction she sidepasses? her canter que is weird, you have to use your outside leg and kiss, unlike the normal inside leg and it's just weird to me, but shes done wonderful most of the time. But when I get her to finally canter that then once she gets into it she is bumpy then once we get a rhythem its fine. she is out of shape, I just need some good excercises to do with her for bending and to figure out her canter! Please!!
  9. Why Sidepaaing Instead Of Cantering?

ohh and sidepaaing? dont know what that is Lol, Sidepassing.
  10. Why Sidepaaing Instead Of Cantering?

Thats so weird I have always used the inside leg, Today I rode her and got her body more connected with her brain and we were able to get a nice walk to canter transition easily after about a good 15 minutes of trying. But we got it! thanks!! I will also look into seeing if a chiro would help but, I dont think she will. She hasent been worked much this year.
  11. Should I Get This Horse?

So a trainer I havent known long but she was their yesterday with me to see thunder, Called me this morning and said she found some amazing horses! i went to see one today and loved her!! She is a 16.2 hand Palomino quarter horse mare! we are getting her on trial and shes 15 so shes a 'been their done That' Kinda horse! So everyones happy! Thanksk for all of your opinions!
  12. Should I Get This Horse?

So Thunder came yesterday and another trainer got on him, she liked him but he would need like 6 months of training and he dident know how to bend and he never had contact on his mouth so he was hard to ride, so I said no, A lot of amazing trainers were their and loved him! It was total opposite of the reaction I would get! But it was to good to be true I guess... :thud:
  13. Should I Get This Horse?

My Trainer said he would be an amazing team and that we would look amazing together, It was just that she knows im not the most confident person in the world but, I believe this horse is the one I want after the good 7 other horses we looked at..
  14. Favorite Breed Of Horse?

  18. Need Advice...and A Name!

So, I'm 14 and havent had the best Trainers on the planet and have lost a lot of confidence in Riding. We are looking in to getting a new horse...We found one a 7 year old Bay Thoroughbred Gelding Who is 17 Hands Hes been Ridden since he was 2 and has had 2 years of jumping experience but has a tempernment of a 6 as they put on the website He has full health and soundness never been raced or anything the guy seems really nice!!...I would feel Comfortable but does any one think I should look into something smaller with more experience??? I really Don't know...The guy is really nice and all and of course were going to have a vet check and have my new and amazing Trainer ride him...We also are thinking of names, Got any idea. Has socks and a Star. I'm also tall and getting taller..I'm Currently almost 5 foot 7 and getting way taller! Thanks! We are not leasing or boarding have a little barn with 6 horses behind our house! !
  19. Can't Get Boomer To Canter!

I have posted a topic about boomer before and how he was bolting and spooking. I went to a clinic (Clinton Anderson) and got help. Now im having an issue with getting a canter. When he does canter it's pretty much just him flailling every where. He is only 5 (Standardbred) and I understand I need to do ground work and start slow with *patience* but I dont know where to start! Boomer canters around the pasture and when I ask him to in the arena and he trots beautifuly. When I ask him to canter I use my inside leg and click but his canter is really bumpy and last for 5 seconds then he breaks down into a trot. He has never kicked or reared or bucked with me on him and his trot is very controlable. I appreciate all of you guys help! thanks! I have been riding since I was six so I am pretty comftorable riding at walk trot canter gallop and we can jump pretty well to.
  20. Wintec Saddles

I just bought a wintec and love it so much!!!! I have the all purpose 500 with CAIR which is awesome!! I found mine on craigslist brand new for $250. I recommend them 100% any other saddle hurts my horses back:( Good luck!!!
  21. My Rebellious Horse!

I have a 5year old Standardbred (Boomer) who has barley any trainning. I rode him just yestreday and he took off in full gallop, I fell off and got a concusion! I was trying to talk to a couple trainers I know and of course im only 14 so not many take me very seriously...I dont really know why but, they all laugh and say good luck kid...Yeah, so I was wondering I anyone had any good tips on how to control him and ways of bomb proofing. I plan on Evneting with him in the future but am starting with dressage to get some basic trainning. Im afraid I will be injured even worse so we plan on sending him to a trainer in like 5 months for 1month. I need to work him as we are waiting to send him, Boomer is the sweetest horse ever I would never consider getting rid of himn or anything. We believe the reason he took off was because my mom and some friends were walking back into our barn and went out of sight and him being the people lover he is decided to say a last goodbye to everyone. Just want some advice:) I would appreciate it:)!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN RIDING SINCE I WAS SIX!!!!!!!!
