  1. I agree with that. If I were to get pregnant, I would tell but it would be pretty much for selfish reasons. IE, I would tell to garner support and because I would need help getting to the clinic and possibly to pay for the abortion. Not because he "needs to know". But that's my relationship. We are definitely "no kids" and will be for a long time, but I want kids more than he does so ours is sort of the opposite of this relationship. In our case, it would probably be easier on him to not say anything because then he'd be worried about how I'm holding up. Not because he'd be upset about losing an offspring. But yes, medically a conception with an IUD is dangerous. Personally I was offered an IUD and I'm 23 and childless, but then again I'm on a college campus and they're pretty gung ho about contraception since girls dropping out is not good for business. I agree you can pretty much forget about getting your tubes tied- and come on, whether they want kids or not I think it's pretty reasonable for a husband and wife to have sex. They took precautions and crap happened.
  2. I haven't posted much lately but I saw this blog post and I thought of you [Huggy] Meet the "Alot". Post here: http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010...everything.html Enjoy. I love this blog. "The party" and "this is why I'll never be an adult" are my other faves.
  3. Ethics In Vet Med

Yes, I have very high respect for Rollin in general. He does lean toward the animal rights side- he himself is vegan- but he presents information in a completely non biased and scientific manner. As far as owner vs vet, it all comes down to what the vet is comfortable with. Like others, some believe that people have the right to do whatever they want with their own animals and others have a list of things they aren't comfortable with doing. Unfortunately, that tends to lean in the direction of being unwilling to euthanize for what they see as frivolous reasons rather than euthanizing in a case where the animal is going to suffer. If you're in the early stages of your paper, it may be easier to switch to something more concrete. For example, there is a lot written about whether it's ethical for vet schools to acquire animals for the sake of students to practice on and then put them down.
  4. If You Truly Thought You Were Gonna Die,..

I'd do the usual telling people I love them and spending time with my animals and stuff. And then a bunch of things that I can't type here. lol. One in particular. Then die in SO's arms.
  5. Please Oh Please Won't You Help Me?

Update: We didn't win, but we did have over 120 votes so we did quite well. The photographer sent a message saying they were offering a discount to finalists and I didn't think it would be very impressive but I inquired anyway. They are offering very good coverage for $500-700. Which is a very, very good price. I have seen terrible photographers charging $1500 plus and this package is equivalent to their normal $2000-2500 packages. So while I don't get free photography, this is very close to it! Now the only problem is several people have the same date so I need to book quick. So, thank you all so much!
  6. Please Oh Please Won't You Help Me?

One little bump before voting closes...
  7. Step Mom Of The Bride

If the wedding is formal and indoors, I like #1 best. If it's more of an outdoor garden-ey thing, then I like the blue with the jacket (but of course feel free to take it off if it's hot.
  8. Please Oh Please Won't You Help Me?

Meeee toooo! Thank you guys so much. I really, really appreciate it.
  9. So I've made a few posts spilling my wedding deets. I came across a contest being put on by a NC couple that want to make a road trip and are offering free wedding photography to whoever convinces them they need to visit their town. I emailed them and then I had to post on their facebook wall and get a bunch of "likes". Out of 50 entries, they chose 13 finalists and we're one of them! Please go to http://crystalgenes.wordpress.com/. We are the 5th ones down- Bonnie & Calvin. At the bottom there's a poll- please oh please vote for us! You don't have to join a group or give your email or anything like that- just click a button. Photography is important to me but oh so expensive- this couple normally charges upwards of $1800. Since we're paying for it ourselves, this would be a huge help. You. Are. Awesome. [bat Eyelashes]
  10. What Horse Forums Have You Frequented...

FKO- the For Kids Only board on this site which I spent a lot of time on when I was, you know, a kid. lol.
  11. If You Moved To Another City...................

I did change mine a long time ago and I did want people to forget who I was. I started a thread that turned into poop fling fest and I was embarrassed. In my defense, I was 14 or so Now that kind of thing wouldn't bother me but it was traumatizing at the time I guess. Once I got over it I did say who I was but nobody remembered me anyway.
  12. What Horse Forums Have You Frequented...

I started here when I was 14 when HC used to give away a free horse. LOL. I started entering that like crazy and at some point wandered over to the forums and y'all haven't been able to get rid of me since. That was the first forum I ever joined and now I'm on a few with various subjects. About 5 or 6 years ago a bunch of people on the FKO board got banned and made a new site called Gangly Horse so I was on there for a while since I liked a number of people there. It died off eventually though. I tried the FHOTD forum but it was glitchy and kind of boring. Lately I've been on HGS more than here but I still like to check in from time to time.
  13. Just Found Out My Son Bombed Out At College

I bombed my sophomore year. I was depressed and I was no longer sure what I wanted to do the rest of my life. Sometimes you just aren't ready. I took a year and term off, went back, and have been on the dean's list ever since. Not everyone's ready to go at 19 and for some people it's not meant to be at all. How was school for him before college?
  14. Got My Wedding Dress!

Sorry for the late bump... LOL I was wondering if someone would notice. I noticed when we were taking pics, didn't think they'd show up in pics, they did but just barely. Thought about mentioning it but thought I'd wait and see [surrender] I was betting on you not being so observant dagnabbit! I'm sure I'll be wearing Spanx or something along those lines so yeah... shouldn't be an issue. LOL. Thanks for the compliments!
  15. Do You Think The Type Of Music One Listens To

I listen to a wide variety of music but I especially love Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, A Perfect Circle. A lot of people don't have the patience for the encrypted and sometimes depressing lyrics. I think those people probably have less of an, I don't know... artistic inclination? Like those are the same people that go bonkers at an art museum because they don't get the meaning of the work and don't like it. I do think that people that exclusively listen to top 40 type stuff may be shallow. Or maybe music just doesn't mean as much to them. Maybe they just want something catchy and don't care if it's superficial. I do listen to some pop but prefer stuff that has darker undertones, more encrypted lyrics, and stands out. I like Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
