  1. Am I Right To Be Upset!?

So back in April I rehomed one of our coonhounds Tina that wouldn't hunt. She was potty trained and such a nice girl but just wouldn't hunt. I cannot keep another dog in the house so I thought I was doing the right thing by finding her a pet home where she could be loved on and get the attention she deserves. I found a lady who wanted her through a rescue a friend works with and everything seemed great, I was getting updates and pictures of her regularly and then they stopped. I didn't really thing anything of it, it's nice out and people get busy as the weather gets nice. Well, I texted her yesterday asking how she was doing and she said she "had to send her to the pound" because she nipped a child. Mind you, Tina has been exposed to small children including my now 2.5 year old daughter and never has she offered to do anything but lick her in the face and sit patiently for pets while my daughter climbed all over her. The best explanation I can come up with was one of her children were messing with her unsupervised and the adult was ignoring any warning signs that she was getting annoyed, so nipped. I told her I would've taken her back and she said she tried rescue groups and they were either full or wouldn't take her with her history of aggression towards children. (I'm not sure you could call nipping aggression, but I don't know the full story) and now I worry she has been put down. I am still in absolute shock, last I heard everything was going great and now she has been "sent to the pound!" I asked her to find out where she was taken so I can go get her and at first she said she didn't know where her husband took her, he took her on his way to work. I asked her to please please please find out where so I can bring her home. She then said that she was talking to her husband and "he brought her to a shelter home with a guy he works with and she has already been placed in a great home." My gut instinct says she's been shot but I just asked for contact information of this guy so I can know she's ok. If she wont then I know what happened to her. I'm just so upset. Everything was verbal and she passed the application process of another dog through the rescue last December. I guess verbal contracts mean squat to people. I learned my lesson, people are terrible.
