This is Wyatt, my new project barrel horse. He is just over 2 years old, 13.2 hh Quarter horse (not registered). Picked him up 7/28 from a muddy lot, where he had been picked on by an older mare. Was terrified, wouldn't let us touch him, ran in the opposite direction. It is now day 5 of having him home, and he is the sweetest gelding. Even let me put a blanket on with a "girth". Just want some conformation critique. The only issue I have with him is that he refuses to let me pick up his right hind foot. He is fine with the other three, and I'm guessing he is either sore in that hip area, or it's his hoof (which is missing a good chuck out of it). I will be adding photos to this album as the days come. I appreciate any and all comments! http://imgur.com/a/rywiH *I will try to get him set up right when I go see him today*
He's overweight and could be more muscular(hasn't been used much) and he's a little long backed but I'm curious to see what you guys think and see what his body type seems to fit best?(barrel racing, pleasure etc) Also how his head looks. Thank-you!! p.s. The pictures of his front profile aren't very good, sorry!
This is my now 3 year old APHA gelding. I got him at 6 months old and have had him posted on a couple different forums for confo critique as he has aged. I’ve just about heard it all, and from a few different people telling me he is post legged as well and sickle hocked. I had always taken their word for it. Though when I had him posted on a FB page someone said he couldn’t be both, though they did admit that in one photo he appeared post legged and then in another sickle hocked. My gelding always stands just a tad weird when I try and get confo shots. So I decided to try again and to get an up-to-date confo shot of him. In the above photo he is 3 years, 1 month, and 2 days old. I only have the side shot. Hope to get others in the coming weeks. What are all your guys’ thoughts? I have a pretty good idea of his other faults by now from all the critique in the past, but most of it was from when he was younger. Like to see if anything has changed much :) He is still cow hocked some. Without me saying what I hope to do with him, what do you all think he may be good at based on the picture/confo and video (video is from when he was 2 years old. Need to get an up-to-date video, but this is all I have at the moment.)? Pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/catchin+the+drift Video as a two year old. Best to watch in HD:
